Rubicon 4x4 Set me straight here please.

My head is pretty much swimming on this. The JL Rubicon does not have a higher speed 4x4 option at all? Is this correct?

I live in the Midwest and this is critical. My last Jeep (2014 Sahara) had this option and was flat out amazing in any conditions. The new Sahara is a 4 Door only option and I have no desire for a 4 door.

If this is accurate, any educated guesses if they are going to change this?

I own multiple vehicles, from Subaru, VW, even Fiat, and my daily driver Merc. My Mercedes has been absolutely perfect. My Jeep had an oil sensor problem as well as needing a new navigation system with far less miles. Don’t be a douche.

Thanks for the quick response! Does it? I thought it was mentioned multiple times no 4H but didn’t see any details on the configuration option on higher speeds 4x4. Seemed ridiculous. Appreciate the help!

All Wranglers have the same 4H and 4L as your old Saraha. So nothing has changed in that regard. If you get the new Sahara you can get full-time 4wd (basically 2wd until it detects slippage and goes to 4wd).

Seems to me you might be confusing the new selec trac not available on the rubicon. Put it this way, all JLs have 2H, 4H, and 4L. The selec trac adds a full time 4H mode in addition to the "standard" 4H on all wranglers(you can think of this one as part time 4H).

You’re exactly right. I was reading it like the Rubicon was pretty much for rock crawling and the 4L was it. I enjoy taking mine on light trails and it’s a blast on the farm but 4H on snowy highways is a blessing and needed on the JL. All that’s left now is a color in good with. Meanwhile I’ll be envious seeing all yours! Thanks again everyone.

Shifting from 2H to 4H is only recommended between 0-45MPH per the owners manual (download the owners manual PDF here, and see pages 318 and 319) https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...-jl-owners-manual-and-user-guide-leaked.1426/ In other words you don't have a lot of control of using 4H when highway driving. If the conditions change back and forth, switching between the two modes has restrictions. I wish we could get selec trac on the other models.

I see. I believe that is what other folks were saying and I just misunderstood. It sounds like the JL Rubi is exactly like my Sahara. Snowy conditions, put in 4H and make it through the neighborhood. I can keep it in 4H on commute to work, 45-55 depending on roads. Having a 4H option always wouild be pretty awesome. When i bought my Sahara I always regretted not getting the Rubicon, not this time!!

Right, but 4H is the same for Rubi or Saraha. You can't activate the lockers in 4H on a stock JK Rubi.
