Pardon if already discussed...pointers to same appreciated.
I've read here that roof racks attached to both the body and frame can be bad given the independence of each. For example, racks that in front attach to the two bolts on the side, on either side of the hood just North of the windshield (i.e. the body), but the frame in the back can present problems.
(e.g. The MOPAR hard top rain gutters rack isn't a problem in only attaching to body components.)
Q1) Is this really a problem, and if so, more for off roaders?
Q2) The LOD rack seems that it will attach to the tailights in back while the Gobi (and I could be wrong) the frame in back? If true, doesn't this make the Gobi a violator of this principle of body only attachment, or is the Gobi's back attachment points to the body and I'm wrong?
(I do not wish to criticize the wonderful Gobi rack.)
Thank you very much.
