snipe:

My Son has a 2014 JK 2dr with the Mopar Rock Rail and Ace slider combo. I installed both on his JK.

Again, they both (Rails and Ace Sliders) can be installed together. Rock Rails hide the pinch seam and look great with the Ace Sliders.

Those are in my top two right now. Barricade rock rails fit with the rubi rails too and are supposed to be out within a couple of weeks and I'm gonna wait for those to see which ones I like better. On the jks I like the look of the barricades' support tubes a little better but from what I've read, the ace ones stick out a little farther and I have an 8 year old and my wife that use them as steps.

Anyone have the Ace sliders on a Sport (or one without the rubi rock sliders)? According to their pics on the billet silver Sport, the bolt holes on the underside look exposed. Wondering how visible they are from a direct profile view. I have the standard factory Mopar ones on order but starting to change my mind and thinking of sending those back and getting the Ace ones instead.

Not sure if I fully understand what you mean/asking, but I think I do, so will give it a go.

The bolts heads are recessed into some cups/boxes underneath, and the new JL design seems to be even more so. Where they meet the Wrangler is flat, and they should end up flush with the mounting points just below the seam so while you can see the reinforced points, there shouldn’t be gaps where the bolts are visible.

I don’t have any photos of our JK Sport without the Rubi Rails, but here’s a JKU & JK Sport from the internet that should let you see the points that are flush & what’s visible.

Also the slight upward tilt/angle pretty much hides the side view of the seam as well.

Another JK Sport just for reference for smaller rail, unfortunately seen from above, not the side.

And what the cups look like on the JK

the JKU is more like recessed ledges than recessed cups.

Hey thanks for the angle shots of the JK! Sorry I wasn't clear with my question, but I hope the attached pic will show what I meant. It's the "lip" right underneath with the small mounting holes. I'm assuming this is where the rock rails get mounted on the Rubicon but obviously the Sport doesn't come with them. With the Ace sliders and the pic in my previous post, I wonder how visible this area is.

Yeah the pinch seam remains visible, supposedly more so on the JK than JL, but it is quite noticeable, but less glaring IMO with the ACE sliders angling up and making them less noticeable from the sides.

However... if this is for your noticing them... once they’ve be seen they can’t be un-seen, and if they bother you before, then they will continue to bother you, which is why I recommend getting take-off Rubi rails.

Pinch seam! Thanks :)
Yes, "pinch seam". Unfortunately, the ACE sliders as well as most other aftermarkets do not conceal the pinch seam. Pinch seam stands out like a sore thumb and if you are anal about such things, the pinch seam showing will bother you. For best look, buy Rubi rails, install and then get the Ace sliders.

If you watch Craigslist, Jeep forums you will see people selling new Rubi rail pull-offs at decent prices.

Just got out to mount my ACE sliders. I think they sent the ones for the JK instead of the JL (box marked JL) No instructions included, but would seem to mount on the same mounts as the Rubicon rock rail. The mounts for the Rubi rock rails are about the same distance apart, but these are about 21.5 " and 44 or so inches apart. Hmmm....

That sucks. I know it sucks more for you, but I was really wanting to see yours before ordering.

On the JK they don’t mount on the Rubi rails directly which are intergrated at the pinch seam, they mount on 3 mounting bolts underneath.

When you look under the Wrangler you should see all three bolts to the inside of the Rubi rails. Mine were golden bronzy titanium-like coloured on the A-X, but were flat grey (like zinc industrial screews) on the old 2012 Ruby Doozer.

I think they have spare instruction online either at ACE or, 4Wheel Parts etc.

Will do a quick look. (edit: couldn’t find the paper instructions, but there are a bunch of vids of the install on YouTube).

PS, if you’re doing it alone, use the foam to prop up the other end while installing.

Also when loosening the bolts you will hit a point when they don’t seem to do much more loosening, at that point pull down gently on them and they should pop out. Was weird the first time I did it and couldn’t figure out why they didn’t just fall out.

Thanks, @The Great Grape Ape, I'll take another look. Instructions would be nice for a doofus like me. None online either. Or perhaps a marking for right or left....

@wired.... Ace Sliders use body mount bolts (2 on each side)

Rubi rails do not mount using the body mount bolts.

You can have Rubi rails installed and Ace Sliders installed. They bolt on at different places as I mentioned.

Note: Do not take out all 4 body mount bolts and then do the slider install. Do one side of the vehicle at a time. Helps to have a second set of hands to hold up slider during install. Tighten up body bolts properly!!!

Lay on ground alongside of your JL. Look up and you will clearly see 2 body mount bolt heads. Measure from center of one bolt head to center of otherr. Now check hole to hole measurement on your Ace sliders.
