Can anyone recommend a good rock deflector to install on the front of the hood to cut down on the chances of chipping the windshield on the highway?
Thanks!
Most stones that hit your windshield at highway speeds are never going to come within 1 or 2 inches of the leading edge of the hood. So unless you are going old school with a 4-6" vertical piece on the front edge it's probably not worth it and even then it's a crapshoot. They are good at protecting the hood edge but, that then becomes more of an esthetic choice as they all do that fairly well.
That said, there are companies out there making films that do a good job. Racing Optics comes to mind. I used to deal a lot with 3M impact film products as well but I don't know if they are making products specifically for windshields or not. The only issue with these is they are a little pricey. Not horrible though.
