Hello all.
I have installed Rigid driving lights on my wife's JL for her and wired them to the Aux 4 switch. They are great lights, and throw a nice beam, but she complains about having to hit the switch all the time when meeting traffic. And she often forgets they are on.
So my question is: I'd like them to be triggered through a relay to come on and off with the high beams. Simple enough. But I would like to use the Aux switch relays that are already on the Jeep. Where are the relays, and has anyone tapped into one of the Aux switch relay trigger wires to do what I am wanting?
Thanks
Clarence

So you want the Rigids to only act with high beams? To eliminate additional relays, you'd need to feed 12V+, not trigger, to the stock relay from the highs. I'd assume the stock Aux's are bussed in the relay panel, so that may not be available.

Yes. I would like them to be on and off with the high beams. Also I know trigger wasn’t the right word. I have to give the relay constant 12v.
I guess I’m more asking where those relays are, and if anyone had done what I want to do.
thanks for the reply.

I believe in the factory installation they are included in the central under hood panel. With the Mopar accessory switches there is a separate Relay/Fuse box.

I think what you'll want to do is add another relay that is supplied power from your factory aux and THAT relay is triggered by your highbeam.

I did that... I had my bar on a relay with aux 4 and tor the reason, I added another relay in line with the high beam wire. So now, if the aux 4 is on and I hit the high beams, the bar turns on.

So then I would have to turn the Aux 4 on, and kinda "arming" the lights. then when the high beam gets its 12v, it turns on the second relay I have added in. And I guess I can program the Aux 4 switch to return to its previous state when she starts it each time. That sound correct?
Maybe I forego the Aux switches all together, and just put an additional relay in to turn the lights on. I was more just trying to avoid that way, and use what was in the vehicle already. But either way would work.

Ya the aux would be your "master arm switch" then the high beam activation would actually turn them on. I like this setup because I only use them when I'm way off in the sticks. If I'm closer to town I usually have the covers on them to 1) make sure I don't use them and get a ticket and 2) get the lenses damaged.

Yeah ok. I see what you mean. Not sure what the laws are here in Manitoba. I never thought to cover them from rock damage or whatever. Good idea.
The lights I have are more of a flood beam, going outward, but more covering the ditches. I am now in the market for a hyperspot, or spot light that matches, and will shoot far down the road. Our JLU has the regular headlights, and leave a lot to be desired!! So I'm trying to make it as simple and convenient for the wife to just blast light without having to fumble with a bunch of stuff when she meets oncoming traffic.
Thanks everyone for the help.
