Perhaps, but the entire point is that he didn't get the deal he got because he paid cash. That's the point. I am not contesting the deal he got I've seen it happen..BUT not because it was a cash deal.
Last time paying cash held any real value was in the very early 90's..around my parts.
OK enough about that.

Same and retired pretty early.
Yes those Ironbutt folks are an enigma. Asses made of stone and a focus not to be tried.
I gave adventure bikes a shot on a KTM 990 Adventure and even not being as huge as a GS it was way too huge for me. I ride solo 100% of the time and dumping it with all the gear was a huge pain!
Got back into pure off road riding with a feather of a bike 2020 TE300i. Still only ride solo in the mountains and deserts of CA, but with much more confidence.
Also..no more street bikes for me. Too many buddies in chairs or worse.

A bit off thread…was thinking about buying slightly used adventure bike until three weeks ago after a three day overlanding trip…two of us in Jeep’s, the other two on big adventure bikes. Those bikes are great on dirt roads but are a handful on Jeep trails. I’m going to stick with my 2017 KTM500 EXCF I bought three years ago used with 125 street miles. Jeep trails are fun in Jeep’s and dirt bikes…not so much on an 1190 KTM Adventure bike (even if I got a great deal).

Agree.
That 500 should go forever (as long as you change the oil..often).
