I’m in the process of retrofitting BSM. I’ve made my own harness checked and double checked to make sure everything was correct. I bought used mirrors and used modules. I’m getting blind spot temporarily unavailable. Codes say it’s the modules. LEDs in mirrors do illuminate. I have can ihs installed power to modules used Tazer to turn on system. I also checked that everything was on in JScan and alfaobd. Please help. Maybe I got bum modules. If you think this is a waste of time don’t reply, respectfully. I’m committed to figuring this out. Thank you.

Have you checked the codes with jscan? What are the errors? There are error codes for the bsm system

I get that same message every time I run without the doors.
Did you use factory tail lights?

I am really curious if you can get this BSM to function properly. If you can please let me know and provide a laundry list of items to purchase. I would like to install this on my son's 21 JL Freedom ed. PM if you can.

Interested as well to install on 21 Willys if not too expensive

Dropping her off to get corrosion fixed. They told me three weeks. I’ll delve into it more when I get it back. Wish me luck

I retrofited blind spot monitoring and had the same problem. I can no longer remember what was the problem. If you checked, and double checked your wiring, then its more than likely not coded correctly. if you have alphaobd, dump your bcm configuration and upload it here. We can help a little more. Does your bcm see the modules? Did you run the wiring to the modules? I'm sorry if these questions have been asked before, but the wiring has to be 100% correct.

Did you put the can connections on the correct bus? There are 3 in your jeep. The gateway module will think its an intruder if you put it on any other bus besides the ihs bus. I had this problem with one of my retrofits, but can't remember if it was the bsm system.

If the lights on the mirror comes on, you have that circuit wired correctly. The left module drives the left light, and the right module drives the right light. I remember when the left bsm module reported a problem, it was really a problem in the right module. When you power on your truck, both lights will come on momentarily as a circuit test, and if it fails, it turns on the only light it can and leaves it on.

I just did the Blindspot on my car and I simply ordered the harness from infotainment which was only $200 everything's done for you - basically makes it plug and play and the only thing I had to do with JSCan was turn the Blindspot monitoring on the radio settings to on

Of course you need the Blindspot modules and the mirrors with the Blindspot detection that was all there was to it

yes the harness prebuilt is a good deal. I custom did mine without any premade harnesses, so more prone to make mistakes. It wasn't available when I retrofitted mine. It was like $20 though, not $200 what infotainment charges. With that harness kit, $200 tails, $80 each for the bsm modules, and $200 for the mirrors, bsm can be added for under $700. The tails and side mirrors will be more expensive if you go oem.

you should do a write up for those who want to do the same thing since its still fresh in your head :P

I made my harness according to to this diagram. And I used the connector diagram to verify. I attached the two ihs connectors to the ports behind the carpet next to left rear passenger seat. Do they need to connect behind the glove box??

I could do that if I get it working. I have brand new mopar mirror panels coming Soon so I’ll revisit the idea of a write up once it’s working. I’m thinking wiring, modules or programming are the issues which is all that this system is lol. I checked and double checked the wires and I’m sure the ihs bus is on the driver side.

does jscan see the 2 modules? open jscan, select modules, and look for Left Blind Spot Sensor and Right Blind Spot Sensor. Select the Left and open it. The module should report your vin original and current, (mine are from a wrecked car and it has my vin in both spots), the ecu part number, software version, and active diag variant and version. If you have this screen, then the bcm sees the left. Back out and select the right. You should see the same info for the right. Do you have all this?

If you have all this, use alphaOBD and do a screen dump of your configuration. I can look it over for you and compare to mine if you like. If you can't see the 2 modules, we'll have to address that first. No configuration change will help you until we see them.

If you don't have AlphaOBD, I would recommend highly you get it. Its so much better than jscan. I have them both, but jscan has a few limitations. The dump that AOBD provides is priceless.

If both modules check out fine, then check these settings in JSCAN:

Active Blind Spot Present - change to ACTIVE and select GO.
BlindSpot Alert ON/OFF - change to ACTIVE and select GO.
Blindspot Mirror Present - change to ACTIVE and select GO.
BSM - BlindSpot Module - On/Off change to ACTIVE and select GO.
BSM Left Blind-Spot Sensor - LBSS - Module - On/Off - change to ACTIVE and select GO.
BSM/LBSM - Left Blind-Spot Module - ON/OFF - change to ACTIVE and select GO.
RBBS/RBSM/RBSS - Right Blind-Spot Sensor Module - ON/OFF - change to ACTIVE and select GO.

turn off vehicle, wait 5 minutes, and turn ignition on again (don't start).

1. Turn your radio on if it isn't, your going to check the settings in your radio now.
2. Open SETTINGS.
3. Search for and select SAFETY & DRIVING ASSISTANCE
4. Put a check mark next to LIGHTS&CHIMES on the BLIND SPOT ALERT line.

Did the check mark stay? Or did it go out? you may have to force a radio reset in jscan. some have said it takes up to 24 hours for it to take the change. not sure if thats true, never had to wait very long just by doing resets with jscan.

Let us know.

Interested in this too. I already have mirrors with BSM installed so that should save a bit of money.
