Retractable step for jeep?

I got a 2.5” lift and 35” tires on my jeep JL Sahara. Are power steps necessary/worth the money they’ll cost

Depends. How tall are you? Do you really need them? Do you have medical issues, or flexibility issues, that necessitate power steps. Or, will some other type of fixed steps suffice?

Do you actually use the step that is there now? Or do you just step over it. Do you have kids or old people who might need them? Are you planning on larger tires than the 35’s?
I put Amp Reaserch Power Steps on my Ram. Was great when the kids were small and my Mom is 5’2”. They were great when new. Hinge points get dirty steps bind up regularly. Mom has passed kids are grown and the fuse has been pulled. Now they are only used 3-4 times a year on the odd occasion.

I also put 35s and lift on my Sahara.

we kept the stock running board, same as you.

the above comments are good. One other thing to consider the coverage of running board vs retractable.

I don’t know your plans for your jeep, everyone is different, but I have found that my boards help deter a significant abound of small rocks and pebbles from being thrown against the sides of the jeep in just normal driving. I frequent gravel and they do help.
