A couple of facts are clear.
One is that many a JL owner is or once was a JK owner. Another is that Bestop, for whatever reasons, has chosen to not yet implement their retractable Sunshade https://www.bestop.com/products/retractable-sunshade-jeep-2007-2018-wrangler-jk-mesh/ for the JL.
I've been trying DIY solutions. I wait on parts for this https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/please-critique-retractable-sunshade-idea.99682/ and https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/jl-retractable-sunshade.30205/post-2056618 using my own window shade best involves insertion of a steel rod in the flimsy cardboard tubes such (pin and slot) shades (which appear to be phasing out) provide.
Those of you who had the shade for the JK, do you think I might be able to turn the thing upside down (so it also fits under Freedom Panels), and with a little bracketry get it to attach to the JL? Are the soft top latches, upon which the retractable shade is attached on the "A" pillar similar in distance from midline for the JK and JL?
That said, @Bestop, you have every right to put forth product that maximizes your bottom line. And yet I can't help but think that introducing the shade for the JL , given the JK shade's existence, while not trivial, is also not on par with the difficulty of introducing product never seen before.
The shade's offering could possibly boost sales of tops, including the Sunrider, and offer cobranding of both soft tops and retractable shades as one SKU.
People like options for shade given heat and skin cancer, and they like options for opening and closing tops from inside that permanently installed mesh prevents.
There are some good offering of the JK shade on Amazon. I'm tempted to buy one just for tinkering, and to form a solution to publish here.
Thanksl
