Hey all. 24 year old 3 ton natural gas gas pack air conditioner died last weekend. Got quotes from local installers. Just wondering if anybody had thoughts on new units. I have quotes on amana, goodman, and armstrong. No other brands supported by local installers.
The old unit was a Trane. 20 years ago they were premium. Then Ingersoll rand bought them. Quality has nose dived. Oi know two people that have waited 4 plus weeks for parts on Tranes. IR doesn't support repairs like others do. The vast majority of old units around here are Trane. Noone within 50 miles will sell one now. So they are out.
Amana and goodman are the same company.. Amana is marketed as a higher quality option. Tons of goodmans around here. Only seen a couple of Amana.
Armstrong is a division of Lenox. My neighbor has an Armstrong. Perpetually sounds like our is about to throw a fan blade. Can't remember the last time I saw a Lenox .
