Hi, I have a 2024 Rubicon X and want to use remote start to defrost and warm up the vehicle. I have set the remote start options on the screen to all starts and remote starts and cannot get the heated seat, heated steering wheel and defrost to work.

Any ideas on a fix?

Thanks,

What was the outside temperature when you shut it down? For reasons that are a mystery to me, the heated seats, etc., will only kick in if the outside temperature was below 40 degrees when you last shut the vehicle off. Doesn't matter if it is 0 degrees when you start it.

Interesting. I think it was low 40's. Will have to try when it gets colder. Thanks for the tip

Per the manual, and as I have experienced, they only kick in when it is CURRENTLY below 40*F outside.

What the outside temp was when last shut off makes no difference/sense.

I agree. But it also doesn’t kick on if it was above 40 when you shut it off.

I should add that my understanding is that the temperature sensor does not update until the speed exceeds 25 mph. So if it was above 40 degrees when you turned it off, it won’t recognize the colder temperature when you start it until you start driving it.

The on-start heating settings use the current temperature of the sensor when started.
That is the whole point of the settings.

Are you parked in a garage that is warmer than the outside temperature?

No. I have had this happen many times and there have been prior threads on this issue. I’ve started it in single digit temps when it has sat there overnight, but if it was above 40 when I shut it off the heated seats do not automatically start up.

Sounds like yours is broken.
Mine works as designed.

Well, it certainly doesn’t work the way it should, but I don’t seem to be alone. Here is another thread on this: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...ce-option-heated-seats-steering-wheel.122988/

Explanations in prior threads have been that it is a design flaw. Next time I am forced to go to the dealer I might ask them to look at this, but it isn’t worth the pain and suffering for a dealer trip on its own.

Hopefully it’s something fixed by a software update, otherwise it’s a horrifically stupid implementation of the feature.

Yes. On average 20 degrees higher then outside temp.
