looking for input on redneck ram hydro assist. I had psc on my jk but don’t plan on off-roading my JL as much. Saying that I was playing around in rocks last weekend and it was hard as hell to turn. I’d like a cheaper setup and it’s $599 if I send in my box. So how is it and is it worth it?

We’re going to go this route when we can get caught up. Going to take it to them and check out the install and then offer it. Met the owner in Moab and he was top notch

Litebrite has been running it for some time. Ported stock box, electric pump and larger cooler. They have some YouTube videos you can check out and an account on here. At least kevin does.

I put mine in several months ago. At that point they weren't taking stock box cores back because there weren't any seals to rebuild them. I had the original AC steering box version and always had wandering issues, so I wanted the new AE version anyway. I paid about $13-1400 I think for the full kit, new box, ram, hoes etc. The install was fairly painless. It has worked well and can actually turn my 37s on rocks and with front lockers on. A buddy switched to the full PSC conversion and has had a few leaking issues as well as being noisy. He has considered switching to the RNR.

Agreed, the RNR Hydro Assist works well. Install was fun (sarcasm) as a one-person job, so if you go this round, make sure you have some help.

FYI, based on some of the previous discussion regarding using the TazerJL to disable the EPS Steer option after the install. That seems OK to do off-road, in fact it's encouraged by RNR, though leaving EPS Steer disabled full-time has been known to burn up the gearbox.

Let's be careful out there!

PS: Loving the hydro-assist more and more each day! Major rain storms here today, and steering was rock-solid.

This is the first I’ve heard of RNR or anyone recommending turning that off. What’s the supposed benefit of that?

I was able to get the new Mopar steel steering box under the TSB. And more importantly, sweet-talked the service manager into giving me the box before they installed it so I can send it to West Texas Offroad to be ported first. This way I can still drive my Jeep while I wait for it back. I shipped it to WTO on Friday! Once it comes back, the dealer will install it (with the ports plugged) and then I will install the hydro assist when I get it back.

Is the TSB for ALL jeeps or only on certain VIN's

Burn up the BOX, or the PUMP?

I'd expect it would burn up the pump if anything, but maybe I'm wrong, thus seeking clarification??
