Ok, couple weeks ago I took a large deer between the headlights at 55 mph. Lucked out, no serious damage, but...I drive country roads, with nearby timber, at night, several times a week. Feel like I want something to try to make sure the next one doesnt FUBAR my ride.

So, I'd appreciate advice on a front crash bar. Parameters:
Application: 2019 Sport, totally stock
No need for extra skidplate, winch, or extra lights
No interest in badass, tacticool, or wannabe froader looks
Must be really protective, not a damage multiplier

So, what's good?

IMHO if you still want your Jeep to look like a Jeep and not a Texas oil rig truck, a winch bumper with a stinger would achieve your goals. You need not put a winch on it but you could if you wanted to. If you messed up your front bumper you need a new one anyway.

I’m running factory steel bumper on my ‘22 Rubicon. Aftermarket front hoop. Hit a deer in Tennessee (10pt!) at 70 mph and it just damaged the right fender. You can still see the right side plastic near the fog light has deer fur/abraision.

Really the only answer to your question is ARB. Maybe AEV too. ARB is engineered to be airbag compatible and to actually serve as a bull bar to protect against kangaroo strikes.

As far as I know, those are the only two companies that actually engineer their products to meet OEM safety standards. The rest just weld up metal.

Nope, didnt mess up the bumper, or anything else. Just want to try to make sure nothing gets trashed next time.

i have the lod mid width signature steel bumper. been tested a few times from deer, etc. lod makes a few different style bumpers and comes in full width. they are well built and made in the usa.

That looks like it might work nicely. Doesnt fold back into the grill on impact?

no. this bumper have saved me a few times from body damage from the deer or 2. without that bumper i would of had at least grill and fender damage. also had a few close calls from idiots pulling into a parking spot or backing out of a parking spot while i was parked. again i would of left with scratches vs body damage. i would defiantly get another one. the bumper is a thick steel, fully welded set up. if i recall, the one i have weights 68 lbs. i didnt have any sag even with the winch. if there was, maybe a 1/4 inch. but its not noticeable. its well worth it and a piece of mind.
