had mine inspected yesterday and no issues found,,, was told itās not actually the power steering pump but the connector on the pump and the module for the connector,,, the thought of somebody trying to improve something thatās been perfected by removing the power steering pump from the serpentine belt and making it electronic is just insane to me lol,,,
lol⦠it seems that way.According to Terry's share, this has been an issue since 2015...
Is it just me, or are the Jeep name and fire becoming synonymous?
Is there a way I can check it reliably without having to deal with the dealership. Hate having to unmarry the Tazer before I go. The Tazer has been working fine. So their inspection consist of a diagnostics on the power steering pump module and the connector, if the module doesnāt go to sleep with the rest of the Jeep it supplies power to the connector, and if the connector is loose that creates resistance and resistance creates heat and that heat will burn your wires thus starting a fire,,,
itās just a matter of time before they say your headrest are defective donāt park in your garage lol!
You can always go to the NHTSA website and enter your VIN, or call your local dealership and give them the last eight of your Vin, and they will let you know,,, I actually checked mine with a thermal gun, got up early one morning, and the power steering pump is actually under the air box so I crawled underneath and aimed my thermal at it to see if it was producing any heat, and it was not,,, but still, Iād rather have them sign off on it and have a little relief then worry about it all the time lol!Is there a way I can check it reliably without having to deal with the dealership. Thanks for the details describing what the dealer actually does. I was of the understanding that parts were required for the recall and the dealers did not have the parts yet. This info came from my dealer. In reality, the Jeep needs the diagnostic performed and then it is determined if you are good to go or if parts are needed. I get it, my dealer does not want to bring the vehicle in twice and wants the parts on hand. Many customers would agree but not me. I am going to unmarry my Tazer, bring the Jeep to the dealer and have them run the diagnostic, even if I have to pay for it.had mine inspected yesterday and no issues found,,, was told itās not actually the power steering pump but the connector on the pump and the module for the connector,,, the thought of somebody trying to improve something thatās been perfected by removing the power steering pump from the serpentine belt and making it electronic is just insane to me lol,,,

Read the recall noticeSo⦠not a 2026 model year issue, then? Cause you know⦠asking for a friendā¦
My friend is blind and I am apparently illiterate. You win.Read the recall notice

yeah, I had to unmarry my taser, which was a pain in the ass, but it was worth it to have a piece of paper signed off by the dealership saying that my rig was clear,,, not only for my own peace of mind, but if something happened down the road, and they signed off on it, itās not on me because I didnāt go in,,, itās a recall, itās free,,, I even had my battery tested and a full multi point inspection on all my steering components and everything, and didnāt pay a dime,,, the service manager even came out and gave me some recovery gear because he liked my Jeep, lol,,, yeah, the Temp gun gave me a little piece of mind before their diagnostic,,, good luck! Thanks for the details describing what the dealer actually does. I have visually inspected the power wire and connector, no evidence of over heating. Good idea with the temp gun. Gonna get mine out an poke around some more.
