Today I received a notice that my 2016 Renegade has a recall because it may be emitting more exhaust than it should. The repair would include resetting and updating some software and replacing the catalytic converter.

Seems like a no-brainer, but this Renegade is my trade-in for the 2023 Wrangler I've ordered. So... do I take the Renegade in and get the recall, or do I ignore it and trade it in and let the dealership deal with it before they put it on their used car lot?

If you are getting the 23 soon I’d wait. If not, get it done
Hopefully. It’s ordered and supposed to be here in November.

If they already gave you an offer for it why bother going in for a recall. If you dont have an offer Id do the recall and at least get an offer from carmax before negotiating with the dealer.

Ive never been able to sell a car to a dealer for a fair price. Theyve always offered me pennies.

Yep. The CarMax offer was actually $600 less than the dealership offered for trade-in so I'm okay there.

I’d just leave it. No need for the extra headache of the dealer if your gonna trade it soon anyway.
