I'm looking for something that would sit just above the rear flares and act as a safe place to step. Normally I just step on the top of the tire, but that can be pretty dangerous when it's wet.

It's also hard to step directly on the tire if you're coming down from the top of a rooftop tent... you need to reach your foot under the flare and by that time your weight is already moving downward enough that if you can't get traction on the tire, you basically just need to jump.

Ideally, this would be just 1/4" aluminum plate I could cover with some traction tape.

I hope this makes sense. Does anyone know of possible solutions? I'd like to not have a ladder over the window and keep my stock plastic flares.

I'm looking for something about flare height to help me get in and out of my Ursa Minor top. the flare itself is in a perfect spot, it just won't hold me bery well!

Thanks for the suggestions.
