Rear Lights

I am sure this is a pretty dam stupid question but here goes, on my JLU Sahara I don’t have the LED package but the rear lights have a ring around them so I have to ask do these light up or are they just for show

It’s the square red trim around each light, I figured they would light up but with my lights on I walked back and only the red square above the white backup light is lit

Yep. They look a little different.

Ring with headlights, followed by headlights and brake, and nothing on :

Look to be a reflective outline that doesn't illuminate but rather reflect when lights from other cars are behind...maybe.......

Thanks for the replies, i wish they did light up but glad it’s all working like it should, so far 1800 miles and no issues except some small bugs with Uconncect and the rear washer nozzle that drips after you use it.
