Rear license plate relocation options...?

I'm probably going to end up fabricating something, but I am looking for an option that will let me keep the plate mounted anywhere but on the spare or in the middle of the swing gate at all. I am switching out rear bumpers, and I am just hoping to see some different options people have came up with... that do not include center mounting it. I've been searching for the last two days, and it is getting to crunch time. There just aren't any great options from the big vendors, so I am hoping one of the smaller guys has came up with something.

The JK position is the only other spot I've seen, that doesn't interfere with departure angle. If memory serves, lod is the popular one. It just ends up overhanging the side of the body, which is the chief complaint.

I've yet to look into that specific part, because I'm fine with the spare location. Just going by mentions around here, it sounds like a universal part.

I am also looking. The first two that popped up were the LOD and ARB. I like the ARB one better, but found little feedback.

Yeah the LOD one is probably your beat bet. Not many options out there. It’s made to work with LOD bumpers but you could probably fabricate something up to work with others if you’re handy.

Same issue here, couldn’t find anything I was happy with. Ultimately settled with the center of the spare because the bumper I wanted didn’t have a license plate option. I ended up with a mix of the rugged ridge 3rd brake light relocation (came with the Spartacus HD tire carrier) the rough country plate relocation kit, and the Quadratec license plate light (the light that came with the rough country kit was way too small) I didn’t want to cut or splice into the factory wiring so I used the Quadratec light kit because it has a factory connection, I then cut it, ran a two conductor jacketed wire between the factory connector at the bumper, up through into the cab, factory swing door, to the license plate. Not for everyone, but works for me. First post, hope this helps!

Yeah I ended up doing the same with an Artec myself, and rigged up a LED bolt light with a quick disconnect. Ran wiring through the tailgate, using the Quadratec kit to plug straight into the factory wiring harness. I, too, avoid tapping into any factory wiring at all costs.

My Smittybilt rear bumper actually came with a license plate relocation kit to the spare tire, complete with a light, but I wanted the higher quality Artec one.

Cost me a fraction of the other options. I really can't justify spending 100$ to mount my license plate. The wiring of the license plate light was easy.

Not likely for you to get a response from him since he hasn't been seen for close to a year. I will be doing nearly the same mod as he had, but am wiring it the same way Rough Country says to wire their light. Their directions have you wiring it into the parking lights and starts on page 3. While I have not done it yet, I can't imagine there will be any issues. I am waiting on new bumper to come in and then will get it all wired up. Good luck.

What are you even talking about proving me wrong? The RC instructions do not have you splicing into the wires they demonstrate. Perhaps you should have looked at the instructions to see how RC is running it.
