As a disclaimer I have a 4dr hardtop only, no softie yet. I’ll do it running errands around town with windows down and/or freedom panels off. Mainly for airflow when pulling the entire hardtop off isn’t practical. It’s not a great idea for all the reasons y’all have listed but if you are just motoring around town I don’t see a tremendous risk. Roads here are in good shape. You could say the same about a lot of things people do with their Jeeps (rock crawl, water fording, driving around with no doors). Most understand and weigh the risks of their decisions. It’s something that makes me enjoy the vehicle just a little bit more. I have my eyes on a Bestop slantback top, will likely pick one up before next spring.

BTW, the day my rear window shatters I’ll make sure to come back and let y’all say “told you so”.
