Not available for the JL platform because the little "arm" that the straps attach to are now welded to the body tub, unlike the JK which is bolted. Also, the JL has the metal door stop that nobody makes an extended version of. (I've searched everywhere, and finally gave up).
I'm also looking for this. It is silly that the doors don't open a full 90 degrees. My Jeep is only a few months old and I have scratched the crap out of the paint taking plastic tubs out of the rear doors.
If anyone finds something please post.
I was thinking of adding washers b/w the bolts of the arms that connect to the body of the jeep, but suspect doors won't close properly.
I can't stand them. It makes it difficult for people to get in/out of the back seat. I am just going to remove them completely. See attached video of how to remove them.
I didn’t know this was an issue. I have no problems getting in an out, nor does anyone in my family.
I wonder if by taking those door pieces off, if it would cause dirt and grime to cake up the windows and other components in the door.
Why not remove the detent arm? Once you unscrew the arm that helps hold the door open, it will completely push into the door itself. You would still have the strap that allows for greater opening of the door. You wont have the arm to help hold the door any longer (so basically going back to JK style doors).
I take my full doors off and put the halfers on quite a bit. I don't bother with installing the detent arm
If you watch the video I posted, it would chip the paint. It would still have movement and would chip at the paint when opening and closing the door. I thought of that also but then realized that it would damage the door paint. I'm sure that there could be something devised to close up the opening.
