Hey gang! Thanks to the wealth of information here I'm about to pull the trigger on my first build. I'd love advice - any obvious options I'm missing, or combos that seem silly?

She'll be based in the mountains, and do maybe 30% offroading (at which I'm a total amateur, but expect to learn fast!)'

Here's the build - Rubicon 4xe:

Exterior
  • Color: Hydro Blue
  • Grilles: Integrated Off-Road Camera
  • Wheels: 17-Inch x 7.5-Inch Machined / Painted Black Wheels
  • Tires: LT285/70R17C BSW Off-Road Tires
  • Tops: Black 3-Piece Hard Top
  • Doors: Dual Door Group with Base Uppers
Interior
  • Interior Colors: Leather-Trimmed Bucket Seats (Black)
  • Entertainment: Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Display
  • Interior Design: Hardtop Headliner
  • Safety & Security Systems: Remote-Start System
Packages
  • Safety Group
  • Advanced Safety Group
  • Steel-Bumper Group
  • Cold Weather Group
  • Trailer-Tow and Heavy-Duty Electrical Group

thanks!

The important choice was getting the best color ? The rest of your build is very nice. I didn’t find the optional wheel choice worth $1k, especially when they didn’t offer any functional advantage over the standard wheel, but that’s just me.

Hahaha. Glad to have that vote of confidence. It's funny, I really liked both yellow (refuse to say its marketing name) and nacho, but just... can't get into gecko, the next natural loud/"unusual" choice.

Ah, good point. Sorta forgot about those and agree not really critical. Will noodle on it tonight..

thanks again!

I don’t have any personal experience on the Mopar headliner, but from what I’ve read here users have been disappointed with it and find the aftermarket ones superior. (Using Hotheads personally and really like it)

Edit: forgot to add…not sure where you’re located or have kids/pets, but I’ve found the Mopar floor mats (weather tech-type) are fantastic. Fit great and don’t have some of the warping issues I’ve run into with aftermarket options.

There was a recent post in the “what did you do TO your Jeep today“ thread recently that had a spray on (I believe) liner that looked intriguing. Not for me, though, I have the SOT.

Here are my thoughts:
  • Good choice on the dual door group
  • Headliners don't really add anything , but I don't live somewhere with intense heat. They do nothing for cold.
  • Safety groups are not necessary for off-roading in my opinion
  • Rear steel bumper is shit and should be avoided. If you have any impact, it will fold in and dent the body of your Jeep. Get the crappy plastic ones, remove and install good aftermarket bumpers.

$1750 seems crazy to me for the bumpers. I opted to not order that when the time comes for the '22. Without doing my research yet I think for similar or less money we can get something better aftermarket. Just my thought on that option.

I think the wheels in your build are just the standard wheels that come with the 4xe.

It does come standard with LED lights btw.

Good luck with the order. The 4xe is awesome.

Thank you all for the feedback!

One last question, is the cargo liner worth it? Worth it to me means a combination of, improves the vehicle + is annoying to add on later (eg aftermarket options not as good). Looks like it drags along the Door Guards which I'm having a hard time getting excited about. thanks!

I find cargo liners to be a PITA. They warp, slid out when pulling things out. My plan is to use the standard rug until it gets all messed up and gross and then replace with Goosegear plates for a more permanent solution that will also allow a fridge slider and drawers maybe,
