you have to be in accessory mode. push the start button without mashing the brake.

If you want the radio only, and worry about draining the battery, maybe a portable radio?

Thanks for the response but that makes dash lights, shifter lighs and some other cabin lights to come on which is additional drain on the battery.

Thats how it works, not sure what else you could do with the factory radio.

The drain on the battery from those other items is relatively small compared to the radio and its amplifier. My audio source is usually my phone so to avoid draining the Jeep's battery, I use a portable bluetooth speaker when the engine is not running.

The dimmer switch will turn most, if not all of those lights off.

Turning the dimmer switch all the way down into the bottom "click" is what Jeep calls "Party Mode" (a silly name) which is intended for doing what you're trying to do. That will be as good as it gets.
