Since buying my JLU Rubicon (3/18) I have struggled with the Radio. CarPlay constantly would disconnect and reconnect. On a rare occasion the radio would completely lockup and you could not adjust volume, station, etc.

The dealer gave the the Bulletin number related to a known software issue back in March / April. I took it in this week and they said an update had just come out. It has only been a couple days, however I have not had any of the issue above with the radio since. I still get an issue where carplay only plays out of the Front Left speaker, like it is stuck in navigation dictation. I think that is more related to Amazon Music and Carplay as that is the only app I have the issue with. I normally restart the Amazon music app and that goes away.

It also appears to have added the off-road add to the system that I do not think was there before.

Note - I have the Electronic Infotainment System Group with the Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Display

I quickly read the other treads on the topic - I didn't see a duplicate post. Hope this is useful.

My Uconnect has been locking up a lot with CarPlay. This will be awesome if it fixes that. I'm getting tired of having to stop and restart the Jeep in order to get it working again.

Thanks for the info.

I think this is the TSB recommended diddy that fixed your ORP issue. Is it?, if so, did you see any other positive things .... other issues with the radio remedied?

I didn't have many issues before. After I unmarried the Tazer, I started having the ESS error at about 45mph. My dealer said it was because of the larger tires, but I didn't remember experiencing that when I first put them on. However, I think they are right because it was so consistent and it disappeared after remarrying the Tazer and correcting the tire size. When that error occurred, the back-up cam would not turn on when I shifted into reverse. Odd. I did have a short time where it went a little crazy and the back up cam disappeared completely and it appeared the Uconnect wouldn't shut down. You helped me do the reboot and that took care mof that. So fast forward to now. I see no issues. Everything works like you'd hope it to, and I do play with this thing a lot while in the Jeep, so I ask much of it. The only minor irritant is that when I first start the engine, I have to wait about 15 to 30 seconds for the ORP icon to appear and then another few seconds to activate it or I get an error. If I start the engine, wait maybe 30 to 45 seconds, then push the ORP icon, it starts up fine. Overall, I'm VERY pleased.

The one thing I am hoping the update did was to allow future updates over the air. My unit not being able to do that was a headache, so I'm hoping future updates push out smoothly. That said, I don't know that I really will need an update for a good while since everything is functioning as it should.

I'm not seeing anything unusual with battery voltage, either. It has settled into a predictable pattern, mainly between 14.3 and 14.5 volts.

The Tazer is working really well on the .06 firmware, too. I don't think I've seen any hiccups. I'm waiting for the .07 to not be considered a "beta." Plus, I'm just not sure I need any of the features. Engaging the rear locker in 2wd might be fun to mess with, but I don't see a scenario where I might really need it other than maybe a boat ramp covered in algae. It would be nice to use it to get rolling and then shut it off before having to turn on the dry upper part of the ramp. I do think that could be useful, but not a huge deal.

I'm looking forward to seeing what other features may come with the Tazer.

I believe what you are seeing in regard to the way ORP starts up, etc. is normal.. at least that is the way ORP behaves for me.

In regard to the Tazer JL Mini with 11.0.6. ... I had an issue where the Tazer JL Mini would not go to sleep as it should... I got disenchanted lets say , a tad pissy, but after Joe got involved and sent me his own personal Mini to try, it became obvious that the Mini I had was lets say, a muck.

I presently have Joe's Mini (nope, he is not getting it back and he is good with that) installed and am running 11.0.6 and all is aok. Joe, emailed me recently and said new firmware will be made available soon.

On another note:

I did, for close to two months, run the SmartStopStart, ESS disabler. What a terrific little gadget it is!

If anyone reading his thread is looking to just disable ESS and no more, the SmartStopStart, ESS disabler is the way to got..

TERRIFIC device that is easy to install, does the job and.... and it never fumbles the ball lets say.

SmartStopStart is a forum sponsor. Thank you, Steve @SmartStopStart.com

My invoice does not have the TSB listed. I think the old one did when I initially reported the issue. I don't think this helps at all, but I attached the details on the radio update. Looks like dealer codes for the work performed.

Total side note - I also had my rear defroster fail. The wire looks like it burnt off. I LOVE my jeep, so I am not complaining - sharing for others to watch out for.

12k miles and CarPlay is the only issue I continue to have. It's been good 99% of the time and I really enjoy it, but this is probably the 3rd or 4th time it's gone down. Today CarPlay with my iPhone stopped working again.. The other time it stopped working, I rebooted my phone and it started to work. Last month I noticed my Uconnect was updating because my backup cam wasn't working (noticed that twice before during late night drives), after that I had to update my iPhone to get CarPlay to work. Right now I noticed there was an update availble for my phone so I updated it, but nothing. Weird thing today also, when I was driving with my laptop charging I noticed it wasn't charging. It's powered from the outlet behind the center console. The outlet is working now, but CarPlay still is not. I'm in my Jeep right now just to check, no CarPlay :(
