Well, with only 3 days left under warranty, I took my JLU in, for the radio shutting off, periodically. They ordered a new radio, and will replace it as soon as it arrives.

Following. My radio also causes the instrument cluster to go dead, back in March. Still waiting for the part to arrive.

My radio was replaced about a year ago for the same reason and I’ve had no problems since. I would also open the fuse box and push in all the fuses to be sure they’re seated-that’s also caused some problems with the radio for other forum members. Good luck!

I've tried the fuse seating, a long while back. No luck.

My U4 system w/nav in my 2019 Pacifica was replaced. same symptoms and the nav was saying i was somewhere in the the mid USA lol. anyways when I brought it in they looked into it and said they needed to replace the whole head unit but there was a known issue for this (was still under warranty anyways).

New head unit in and no issues since.

This has been happening more frequently than in the past. I will start the Jeep, and within a minute, the entire radio will shut down, and restart. I will notice that the radio clock and instrument clock will have reset itself to 12:00AM too.
I just love all these little gremlins FCA gave us. Is there a TSB on this subject? Are others having this issue?

2020 JL bought Wrangler in 2020, radio cut off 6 months later, repeats each month or two. Eventually it killed the batteries and the cluster, lost stop/start. Replaced all three items under warranty ($100 deductible).
Seems to always happen while turning left. Most radios will die and lose time setting if the constant 12vdc is interrupted. So, you hear a "SNAP" coming from center area behind dash and radio restarts. The "left-hand turn" issue makes me think it could be initiated by the steering column harness, or maybe a loose cable that is shorting due to a cable moving to the right (as you are turning left)?

My radio still blanks out, and resets every few months, even after the replacement, many years ago. No idea why. Is it the radio, is it the electronics in the JL itself that causes the power outage? No real idea. Do those with aftermarket radios suffer from this?

My does this as well occasionally, but it seems to cause no harm, so don't give it much attention. Probably the radio getting in a confused state and correcting itself.

Which radio? I've had 3 of the 5" radios (2 originals in the JL and JT and 1 Facebook replacement to get SXM) and they have all been flawless after the firmware update that corrects for the clock loosing time.

Despite it's limitations, the 5" radio is still the best factory radio I've ever had and sounds great after my speaker upgrades.

The base one, with the Alpine system. I believe it's the 7" one. This one works beter than the orig. one. That one would go black, for hours, or overnight, at times. This one just wants to glitch out, and reset itself. All the stations stay set to where they were, except the time goes back to 12:00.

It could be a firmware issue. The base radio is the 5" with the knobs on the radio, these were flakey until the later firmware updates. I don't think there is a way to check the firmware version on the 5" without having a thumb drive with a firmware update file on it. It can only be updated from a thumb drive.

If it's a 7", I think there is a way to check the version, but I don't know how to do it.

I can live with the quirk, rather than taking it to the dealership.

If it's the 5" and it's keeping accurate time, it has the latest update.
