So as not to fry bcm if pinning wires.. I assume one should remove both battery cables and not just the negative? And probably tie strap cables together to make sure no residule power ? Ty for future knowledge to learn

It certainly can't hurt, but it really depends on what you're actually doing. Depending on the situation, removing the battery may also give you more room to work.
