How does the amp install? Just like a normal amp, or does it plug into factory harnesses?

It’s designed to complement the Stage 6 kit. That kit has the extra power plug and space on the rack for mounting. To run it separately you would need a LOC. They package it with the amp to make it clear that you cannot use it with the factory amp.

I have gotten impatient and found a JL 10TW1-2 sub on eBay that i thought i would pair with a BRP ring and the mbquart amp i bought a long time ago. Any thoughts on how that will work from your perspective?

As long as you got the revised ring that is 9.25” ID, it should work. I tried that combo with the 9.5” ring and there wasn’t enough material to secure the sub to the ring. BRP was good and replaced my 9.5 with a 9.25” ring. Considering a 48CWRT104 but haven’t ordered it yet. Currently running a stock rewired sub with the 400.1 amp and it ok for now.

i don't understand anything when it comes to audio. my factory sub is rattling like crazy.

what do i need to do to make this one work? what does LOC mean? will it work with the factory stuff if i only get the sub and amp in the link you shared?

You could add this to a factory Alpine and replace the OEM sub. You will need a line out converter (LOC) to get a signal to the amp. The Quart Stage 6 kit comes with a PAC AmpPro. It can be used in conjunction with the factory setup and allows the option to upgrade the the front and rear amps if you would like. The sub was released right after Christmas and I have had it in since the first of the year. There are other less expensive options for a line out converter but this is the one that I have experience with.
