Call Tom Winkels at Hayes Jeep and get a price on MaxCare for however long you hope to keep your JL. Go in armed with that so when they hit you with the warranty pitch you can tell them "beat this price and i'll sign today". Otherwise you can say "no thanks" to the rest. If you want tire insurance, get it through your auto policy. If you want paint protection, take it to a detailer's shop where they will do it right. Do not ever get any kind of undercoating, period.

I do highly recommend MaxCare but that's a factory-backed warranty. Do not ever consider any third-party warranty or insurance product unless you don't qualify for MaxCare.

I would stay away, just say no and decline everything they are trying to sell you, as you know dealerships push these sort of items to generate more income as everything in the packages they will offer you is marked up! You can always shop afterwords on your own for anything you’d might be interested in adding to your jeep, you’ll have the opportunity to think about it a bit more and shop for best price, the forums has many vendors you can get quotes from for warranties etc etc best of luck and enjoy your new jeep!!
This ?

Ceramic coat done by me … I’ll probably never use wax again.

And GEICO offers their extended warranty/ mechanical breakdown with new vehicles for a longer term (mileage) and a much lower price. (Not advocating just providing my own info ? and electronics are covered)

My dealer was quite offended that I would question their authority ???

Don't buy the crap from the dealer. I got talked into wheel/tire on a new Porsche. Seemed legit given the cost of replacement. Getting them to pretty -up the wheels under the policy was like pulling teeth because they usually just call a guy in to do it, which you could do and have them come to your driveway. And even though I had a tire replaced under the policy when I rolled over something on I95 in NJ, I had to fight like hell with Cherry Hill Porsche because THEY forgot to take pictures of the damaged tire beforehand and were having trouble getting reimbursed from the insurance company. Had to threaten all kinds of stuff and ultimately talk to the GM to get them not to charge my AMEX. Even then, the economics did not work out in my favor. Never again. Really think about how many times you've had the types of problems with your vehicles that they purport to cover. Not worth it. Self-insure and save yourself some $$$.

I have GEICO on my two existing cars that I've had from new and I've never heard of this. Did you have to ask for it or did they offer it?

I recall it being an option when I bought the 21 new and was first insuring it; I didn't elect coverage.

I really liked my salesman when I ordered and bought my Jeep.

That good buying experience lasted right up until the finance guy pulled me into his office to try to sell me everything under the sun: financing through their company rather than the 0%/36 mo through Jeep, windshield protection, paint protection, undercoat protection, seat protection, extended service, etc.

I told him no to everything, and he got a little pissy about it. I didn't care and told him to get bent. I left that day with my new Jeep and spending exactly what I went in that morning knowing I was going to spend.
Yeah, the finance person can get really pushy from my past experiences. They probably have quotas similar to the sales guys.

Do yourself a favor and get Krown Rust Control from your local shop in Calgary. I paid approx $135US last fall and thought it was a good value. They have a coupon on their website where you get a free rattle can of Krown as well.

I live in the snow belt of WNY. The town plow likes to dump the snow from our neighborhood’s cul de sac into the the apron of my driveway. In other words, I get an extra helping of snow mixed with salt and sand. I used the rattle can on my very rusty 20 year old 8HP Ariens two stage snow blower. The engine is black again the body work orange and I should be good for another 20 years.
Thanks, I’ll give them a shout.

Did they need to drill 'access points' into your doors or other body panels like they show in their video?

Any particular reason why not?

Didn't get it done on my last vehicle because the owner's manual specifically stated not to, though it started having noticeable corrosion problems after the second year and major rust issues after the 8-year corrosion warranty expired (same state, lots of salt).

They offered/included when we changed coverage from our 12 JKs to our new 22 JL and JT. They kind of snuck it in there, but I asked for more info on it and kept it. They told me they only do it for new vehicles and you can’t add it later (not sure if that’s true).

Regardless, it is 7 year 100000 miles and way cheaper than the dealer. The look on the finance guys face was priceless because he was strong-arming the dealer warranty and had never heard of the GEICO warranty.

Then he said “I’m not sure if we accept their warranty here!” I replied with “What, they write you a check and you won’t accept the money?”

I enjoyed not giving him 10s on their survey. ??

This is just me, but I always decline what the F&I person is selling. When I purchased my Jeep the F&I lady was clearly not happy. When we purchased the wife's X3 the F&I guy immediately dropped the price 25% on everything. I still declined. I purchased PPF for the X3 directly from an installer that was highly recommended.

Yes - because it's never applied properly outside of the factory and if not applied properly, it's far more damaging than not using an undercoat at all.

It took me 3 years of regular scraping, sanding, and wire-brushing to remove all the poorly applied dealer undercoat on my Tahoe and correct all the damage it did.

You can get frame protection done the right way, but you are never going to get it as an after-sale service from a dealer for $300-800.

I just looked. One in the bottom of each door and one each into the bulkhead where the door latches. (I know - sailing term). The access points don’t bother me in the least. If you’ve every had work done by a “dent wizard”, they do the same thing if their suction cups don’t work and there are no factory access paints nearby,

As for the merit of using rust control / prevention, I’m not getting into it. If you have your car long enough and live in the rust belt, you know exactly what winters do to our rigs.
