Looking at the "% Power" Gauge in your Jeep Wrangler 4xe - what percentage can you get up to in Electric Mode before the gas engine kicks on to add more power? Does it vary as the battery is more/less charged?

I had a 2024 Wrangler 4xe. Lease ended and got a new 2025 4xe. This new 2025 4xe seems to not be able to put out the same amount of power in Electric mode as the 2024 I had. It seems to only be able to get up to about 25% before the gas engine kicks on. Does this sound normal?

In my 2022 I can hit just about 50% in Hybrid mode before the ICE starts, but much more in Electric. It depends on the total system load, battery temperature and a bunch of other parameters to determine when the ICE kicks on. If you ask the battery to deliver a high power load and some of the other parameters are out of spec for that amount of power delivery it will kick on the ICE. I notice that if I'm at 15-20% going uphill on a long climb with high temps it will just kick into hybrid mode because the system is protecting itself.

If you accelerate (or go up a hill) ICE will turn on. Other things trigger it as well, sometimes in mysterious ways. Not much to do with how much the battery is charged. The hybrid, elec, e-save buttons affect how it manages the combination but ICE can come on in all three modes if the computers think it needs to.

Put it in electric mode and it'll hold to around 90% or so before it kicks on the ICE. You CANNOT floor it.

Remember this thing makes like 120hp and it's pushing around 3 tons of jeep. It's like a 18 second 0-60 time on pure battery.

I just tested this (on a 2024 Wrangler 4xe Rubicon X, if that matters).

In electric mode, starting from a stop light with the gas engine off and cold, using gradually increasing pressure on the accelerator, I can get it up to a bit below 75% on the power gauge before the power drops to 50%, the gas engine engages then the power goes up to 100%.

I can definitely feel a lurch at the power drop before the gas engine kicks on; it's brief, but noticable.
