I was washing my JL today and noticed a number of very small white specs on the body matched hard top as well a spot that looks like the paint bubbles and cracked.

The white spots look to me like the paint was applied evenly at the factory or it didn’t take 100%.

Anyone else see this in their JLs?

Mine is in Firecracker Red. I plan to take it to the dealership soon, but just curious if anyone else has had this issue.

Alright so here are some pictures. The first one looks like the paint bubbled up.

The second, if you look close you can see the white specs. This is all over that back.

And this is the front part of the hard top on the passenger side. Small bubbles in the paint.

Hello SixteensPaws,

Whenever you decide to take it in, let us know. I'm available via direct message and will help in any I can with this concern.

I’m going to make an appointment at the dealership, but I am curious if anyone else is having problems with their body color hard tops.

I have a chip on a door hinge they tried to fix with a little body filler and touch up by some one they bring to the dealer to do stone chips. It lasted two weeks and the puddy fell out and it’s back. Rest of the paint looks good

Yeah, the main concern for me is that there are little bubbles forming on the edges on the hardtop. Over time those will crack and peel away.

I’m not sure what the solution is but seems like a bad coat of paint or not enough time drying/curing. I’ll be taking it in and push for a replacement top as I think that makes the most sense given I have about 600 miles on it.

That completely blows. I don't know much about the painting process, but I've had a ton of vehicles and that would drive me crazy. I would push for a full replacement top. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

I had taken it out and gotten it pretty dirty, and as much as I love doing that... I also like a clean car so I was washing and waxing and saw this. Same as you... drives me crazy. Definitely going to push for a replacement.

Hoping it works out!

I just went and looked at my Rubicon hard top and yes I'm headed to the dealer now.

So, quick update. While it isn’t fixed yet and the dealer was pretty clueless to what the steps were to get this taken care of... they told me they have ordered a completely new top that should be in next week. Supposedly it doesn’t come with the glass, so they have to swap that from the old top (which they say will take a few days). I think that a few days for that is nonsense but we will see how it goes and I will update again when I know more.
