Driver's side works fine. Moved the glass by hand in case it was frozen. Pulled the connector apart and looked for bent pins. I pulled on every wire leading into the door in case one was broken. Is there a replaceable motor in the mirror?

I know this is a somewhat old thread, and I hope you found the problem. In my case, my passenger side mirror would move up and down but not side to side. The problem was a broken wire on the driver's side umbilical, since the switch is on that side.

This is the most likely cause for everyone, broken wires there is unfortunately pretty common.
