I highly suggest the use of packing blankets. I had a couple in the back of my Jeep to protect the interior, and I bought six more on sale for a total of eight. You can put anything in the back of your Jeep and wrap it with a packing blanket and bury it in the others, and it won't bounce around or rattle.. Packing blankets work better than anything else to get a vehicle unstuck from ice, or a tire that has created a ridge in ice. I use this method in a big truck, and am confident that it works better than those surf-board things people stick on their Jeeps. With eight blankets, you can cover way more area. Clean packing blankets can keep you warm in the winter. You can lay packing blankets on the ground. If you have eight, you can lay a few on the ground, and a couple on top of you and sleep in 15 degree weather. When you have all your stuff in the back of your Jeep you throw just one over your stuff, and if someone looks in your Jeep they wont see anything. You can also make a "lean to" with packing blankets, or drape them over the top of your Jeep in an emergency. So basically, if you don't, I suggest you put a few packing blankets in the back of your Jeep

YES, carrying a few 40" x 72", Harbor Freight Shipping Blankets in the back of the vehicle is a very good suggestion. I myself have mentioned this on the forum many times..

With that said, I keep 3 Harbor Freight shipping pads ($4.00+-) in the back. Two are sewed on 2 sides so they end up being big pockets. The third pad is just folded, so if I need it, it can be opened up. The pads give me more then adequate protection. They are black and blend in back there..

Shipping Blanket use...

You can slip things into the pockets to hide such things.

IF there is a Hail Storm, I can quickly take the pads and place them on the top surfaces of the vehicle. I have actually had to do this on multiple occasions.... saved my JK's from damage.

A pad can be used to lie on in case I have to work on vehicle when on the side of the road..

A pad can be thrown over a winch / tow cable to help protect those around.

A wet/soaked pad can help put out a fire.

Can use on the beach or in the woods to sit/lay on.

A pad(s) can cover me/keep me warm if I am stranded on the freeway or in the hills, in a Snow storm/below freezing.... Had to do this twice in the last 20+ years...

A pad can be used in regard to a patient I need to care for at a car wreck... done this quite a few times.. Opened pad also used to carry an injured person or pet.

and more..... read here... https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...ight-moving-blankets-why-you-need-them.19320/
