Pricey yes, but worth it when you consider they are critter and weather proof. They also serve as step stools, tables etc around camp and allow me to leave the camp kitchen and 90% of my camping gear packed up. Just toss those two boxes in the Jeep, grab groceries and leave town.

Just ordered one. Way high priced, but the best often is, so I bit the bullet.
It appears to be exactly what I need.
The company voicemail inbox is full. They don’t return emails.
It’s on backorder till May 6.
Normally I would not order given those red flags, but I really want it, ASAP. It’s camping season!
I paid through PayPal on my CC, so have recourse, and haven’t heard a bad thing about Outback, so I pulled the trigger.
Anyone had good or bad experience with these folks?
I don’t want to receive it in September.

Good lord, this sounds just like me. I just ordered one through a company called Alpha Dirt Off-road. Paid with PayPal. No response through email, phone goes straight to voicemail, mailbox full. Finally got an employee’s cellphone number and was able to get some reassurance. Hopefully we both get ours soon.

I spoke to the owner of the company yesterday. He answered “Hello?”, and was obviously in a moving vehicle. Clearly not a big outfit.
He apologized for the lack of contact, and assured me that all backordered Trailgaters will go out next week.
Seemed trustworthy. I’m optimistic.

I talked to Doug (owner) again yesterday. He said all Trailgaters on order would go out yesterday or today. They send a confirmation email.
So you should be good.

Hopefully so. I didn’t order direct from them; however, the guy responsible for shipping that I spoke to said they drop ship from OBA. So...

Been thinking more about the cost:
$345 certainly seems high, but compared to the $200 Mopar or the $245 Springtail, it seems a bargain.

So much more functionality, and way cooler to boot.

I found it for $330. Can’t say that’s a good deal until I have it in my hands. Haha.

I agree, it’s a steep price but the pull out board that nearly doubles the usable space is worth it, IMO.

Easy install. Good instructions. Exceptional fit and finish. I’m happy!
Edit: They recommend getting someone to help. I just installed it sitting inside with tailgate closed. Lines right up.

Been thinking about this. I think I may understand Doug’s business model:
Say he pays his fabricator (he told me he outsources it), $150 per unit.
Then he gets prepaid orders to cover a run of tables.
So he needs ~45 prepaid orders to cover a run of 100 units.
He ships the 45, and then has 55 left to sell retail or wholesale out to sellers like UNCRubicon bought from.
As stock dwindles, he orders another run.
If he times it well, he never has a nickel of his own money invested. And he’s up front about projected shipping dates, so no one should be upset. I’m sure not.
Genius!

I hope you’re right on it. Alpha Dirt still hasn’t received anything from OAB about my order. I’m crossing my fingers I get it in the next couple of weeks before my trip to Windrock.
