I would like to order a 2024 jeep wrangler with a manual transmission. I have been told by several dealers that this is not possible because of a manual transmission recall. Could somebody please set the record straight for me and let me know what the real story is And if I truly cannot order one right now

You can order one, but you will be waiting until the issue is fixed. How long? Nobody knows…

Granger Motors (who sells at enough of a discount to get on the 'list') is able to order MTs. I ordered my 2024 Willys MT with them.

I would look at the dealers on @Ratbert spreadsheet so those are the dealers that you'd have better luck with along with a getting a good deal so a win-win

Probably want to also have a look at THIS thread so you can see what kind of wait you’re in for.

This is the reply I received from my dealer. Now I really do not know what to do ?
Hey John, sorry I've been tied up with a customer...So when you order a new Jeep, yes it should come with the updated transmission. However, the ordering is currently on restriction so it won't even let us place one and I'm not sure when the restriction will get lifted

Agree with going with the dealers on the list. I ordered a manual on 11/3 from Mark Dodge with no issues. True not sure when it will get built or delivered ? I am in no hurry at all, so thats not a concern. I also received a VIN# about 2 days after I ordered- means nothing I know but still got one. Best of luck.

There are techs putting the new clutches in, I'm sure the factory is building them. Yes, there is a backlog, but you should be able to order one as others are saying.

I had a dealer order a car on restriction (it was a charger) which it ended up getting cancelled due it being the end of production.

There is a significant difference between "not able to order" and "on restriction."
I'd be willing to bet that most of the dealers on the Ratbert sheet are familiar with all of this - I'm not going to claim to have EVERY answer here, but here's some.

Not being able to order would be one of the following:
1. literally missing from the order screen (2.0L gas wranglers)
2. pop-up that says "you can configure this, but you will not be able to order" (past model year remains available to review).
3. Order gets placed but then has an alert back to dealer that something has to be changed before it can be accepted (a few days or weeks later)
4. Order gets placed for something that is actually allocated, and the dealer doesn't have allocation for that specific item (this is different than dealer stock allocation, I'm talking about Durango Hellcat, Charger/Challenger last year, etc)
5. Something restricted for a particular state/region, even for sold-orders (right now only Durango 392 and Hellcat have this, everything else is good as long as it's a sold order)

Something can be on restriction and be completely inconsequential to a sold order. (shaded in red on your build sheet)
1. It can be restricted from dealer stock order, but available for sold order.
2. It may also show a restriction just because the particular month that they are sequencing has already been filled for that item for production schedule, and it will get bumped to the next one (but sometimes on a sold order may STILL filter in)
3. It can be on restriction for any other hands in the pot from Stellantis that need to slow it up for some reason, be it supply chain, smaller batch items (right hand drive).
*No, it doesn't tell us WHY something is on restriction*

At the moment, the most recent M/T Wrangler I have on order was placed 11/3. It is in D status, with a VIN# assigned.

Thank you so much for your response. It was very helpful. I will now move forward and place my order and see what happens. Thanks again.
