While I'm waiting on my Jeep order to build (Ordered 2.7.20, Got my VIN. No movement since then) I thought It would be nice to think back to the days of spy shots, camouflaged jeeps, and rumors.

What turned out to be true? What was completely wrong?

Here's a couple of things I remember seeing:

What do you guys remember?

Off my head I remember a lot of IFS talk and the windshield being slanted far more than it is. Slanted like a sedan.

The 8 speed transmission was rumored for a while aswell and completely true.

Assumptions that JL frames would be welded together well, the steering would track straight, or the clutch wouldn’t burn down your JL turned out to be greatly exaggerated.

On a more serious note:
  1. There were speculations that JL would be all-aluminum
  2. Diesel was supposed to appear in 2018
  3. JL would become truly global and utilize the new plant capacity of 300,000 units
    • So far, JL struggles to sustain 200,000+ units/year, which is the same as JK, but now 25% of sales go to rental companies
    • 80% of JL sales remain in North America
