Noob grounding question

Doing some wiring for my CB. I’m aware of what entails when choosing a spot for a grounding location. (Bolt on metal body). But do I need anything special for the wire to connect to the bolt? Or can I just wrap a piece of the grounding wire around the bolt and screw it down?

You can do either. If you use a connector like above you are pretty assured a good ground connection because it can’t slip off the stud after you screw it down. If you just use the wire and wrap it around the post sometimes the wires have a tendency to move and slip out, especially if you wheel and bounce around a bit.

Use a connector, it’s the better way.

Sure, you could just "wrap a piece of the grounding wire around the bolt and screw it down". Yes, in reality this would probably do the job but it is a half ass way of doing it so to speak. Suggest you go to Advanced Auto, etc. and get just what you showed in your pic and use one of those.

IF it is worth doing, it is worth doing right!

Half ass chitt will do in a pinch but for a long term solution you are best to do it right.

By the way, here is one possible ground point in the passenger foot well Be sure to clean off any paint on it before you use it.. I also provided a pic of a ground point by the battery.
