So a stupid mistake on my part today.
2018 JLU Sport. 5" basic radio.
I was installing an aftermarket sub and amp. The install is going smooth, I have power, remote, and ground sorted and happy.
Then it's time to import the audio signal. I chose to use the right rear pod speakers for the source. I open the b pillar, jump into them and get them hooked up to the amp, all no problem.
Then I get the sub hooked up, and I go to power on the whole system. And I lose ALL audio. I had music playing before I powered on the amp to verify my connection to the audio wires didn't mess anything up.
I kill power, do a quick once over and discover that in my haste on the homestretch, I inadvertently switched the sub output with the audio input. So I charged the system with a good jolt of power.
The head unit still powers on and responds like normal. Shows music playing but I have no audio. Done hard resets. Verified both fuses for radio and amp, changed sources, all to no effect.
Had to run to store last night after all of this and discovered a faint electrical burning smell. You know the one.
So pretty sure I burned something up.
My problem is, I dont know where to begin in order to diagnose what I may have damaged. I'm guessing maybe the outputs on the head unit?
Or is there a fuse i may be missing to check?
Feeling dumb, because this is the only problem I've ever had with this jeep and it's something I caused.
Any help is appreciated!
