OK, let's start with me being 70 years old and not very hip to digital music tech. My '19 Sport has the 5" basic system. I see a USB port, actually several.

My music still lives on CDs. Is there a simple way to copy from CD to thumb drive and play it in this system? I do have a desktop with CD and and usb.

From CD to Thumb Drive directly? No.
Lets get an assessment of what gear you have.
What computer system do you have? Mac or Windows?
What phone model do you own? Android or iOS (iphone)?
Do you have any spare equipment? I used a spare ipod and left it in the center console, worked great.

EDIT: Upon reflection I thought the previous method was too difficult so I updated it to something easier.

You can convert your cd's to FLAC. This way your files are not compressed like on a mp3. Then what I do is copy the files to a small 64GB flash drive and stick it in the console usb port. No loss of quality from a cd.

The program you need is Exact Audio Copy
