Kind of in same boat, but not wanting to add amps/sub (well trying not to, and I have 2 12s sitting in the garage with a 1000w alpine amp). I don't want the electrical exposure to the elements, and trying to keep it simple audio-wise..

It seems the stock 4" speakers are in some kind of ported enclosure. It seems some have upgraded these to 6.5" component mid-bass speakers, and maintained the port, is that right? Otherwise, would it be better to get a coaxial 4"-6.5" and use that in the ported enclosure thingy?

I've already upgraded my factory tweeters to 3.5" JL Audio coaxials and now they kind of outplay everything. :giggle: I'd like to get some more mid-bass and I'm worried coaxials won't give me that, but maybe some midbass drivers 5.25 or 6.5" if I could fit them, would work? I'm trying to avoid installing a sub and amps, and just want to maintain stock head unit power.
