Yes, I agree- it’s because the bigger engine and the exhaust is right underneath the passenger seat. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about,
I bet it gets hot where you are!
I used to have a Dodge Viper with the V10 motor and factory side exhaust. It was horrible hot and I actually couldn't have my leg on the plastic side molding inside the car on hot days, it was that bad. Nothing ever melted, but I found fall driving in NE was more pleasurable. :) I have a 392 XR coming. I think I will check into doing something with the heat issue if it is bad. Maybe heat shields or exhaust mod or whatever. I wonder if a ceramic exhaust coating would help or an exhaust wrap like used on headers or exhaust. Thanks for the info!

I bet that V10 was hot. Lol.
In all honesty, I haven’t noticed the heat problem again. I’m sure it was the rubber mat and my insulated soft-sided cooler sitting on top of it. Jeep was driven to Florida (10 hrs) in June and back with no issues. It’s also driven to Atlanta, Pigeon Forge, and several other trips that were several hours. Plus up and down our mountain almost daily. No issues.
I read one post where someone was commenting on the AC being hot too. I’ve never had that problem.
Knock on wood, it’s been awesome.
You’re going to love the 392 XR. Worth every penny. I assume you got Gobi? Did you do the black grill? Love that combo.

Hi JeepVET74,

I am actually moving to FL in 2 years. My parents had a place there when I was a kid and I love the state. I know it gets toasty in the summer. U have done a lot of road trips in some demanding areas it seems.

My AC in my 4XE is ice cold, but I have heard others in like vehicles saying the opposite. I did do the factory head liners and tinted the front side windows with 20 percent. I am sure even that amount of insulation helps a lot.

You know what, I ordered a 23 and Gobi was the color I wanted, but it was pulled for 23, at least when I ordered. I thought it would be a good FL color for the heat and I liked the subdued look. I went with firecracker red instead and did the black grill with that build. I was gong to go white, but I am whited out because I have had that color a few times.

Back to the JEEP heat, it seems you had no issues in the mountains and 10 hours in June to FL and back with no issues, and have it figured out. Your cooler and mat thoughts I am sure are right on.

Firecracker red with a black grill was what I had initially ordered in the V6 but it was taking forever to be built (I think it eventually got cancelled) so I settled for a hydro coming into a lot a few hours away. But red will always be a classic and one of my favs. Esp in a 392. It looks so sharp.
Good luck with the wait. Post pics when it comes in.

Hi,

I wish the forever thing would just go away lol. I hate the wait!. I was just under 5 months to get my 4XE. I am at 3 months on the 392 and it is still at confirmed. I think so on the red, but than I always second guess myself. I like the sarge green one day, and the hydro blue the next. I am wishy washy JeepVet74 lol. Thanks and I will post pics whenever I do hit the build lotto :)

Nope nope. Don’t second guess yourself. Red is going to be sweet. Jeeps are meant to be a bright color. Most of the Jeeps in this world are 50 shades of boring.

Hey thanks! I am not changing it then. My 4XE is black. Fun with the Ne dust, even in Omaha lol

As my friend @Peabody said about the GSMJI....all of the different colors of Jeeps there would remind one of a box of Crayola crayons.
