Dealers and Sales Managers,

Please take a moment to read up on the difference between MPGE and MPG. You are going to have upset customers if you tell them the Wrangler 4XE is rated at 49MPG. MPGE is a formulaic calculation based on kilowatt hours consumed per 100 miles when the vehicle is in all electric mode and is in no way, shape or form a “combined gas milage rating” as has been stated incorrectly.

Overall gas milage depends on a lot of factors. Some of us are going to see a lot better than others depending on our case use. The more we can plug in, the better our fuel milage will look but the Wrangler 4XE is not a Toyota Prius and will never achieve that level of efficiency. As awesome as the 4XE is, it is still forced to obey the laws of physics and thermodynamics.

We probably will never know as there are many variables. How a person drives, how far do they normally drive, are they charging to 100% all the time, how heavy are their mods, what climate do they live in (winter climates will see less electric and thus less mpg) and so forth. It is more complicated than an ICE only or a EV only.

Like Sboden said, It's really hard to come up with a real world number. The only way to really come up with a real world MPG is just take a long trip without charging. I have one coming up this summer. I've been driving in all electric mode this week. Right now, I'm up to almost 30MPG on the dash. But that's a problematic number because the Wrangler 4XE tracks everything in MPG and doesn't track MPkWh. So I'm adding miles but not using gas. It uses 99MPG as it's figure every time you are in electric mode. So it's a little misleading.
