Anyone use something like this? Couldn't find any threads with a search. My soft top was broken into last night with my locked Jeep parked on my driveway. No damage (they pried the rear window) and nothing taken as I know not to keep anything of value there. Looking for something that I can remotely arm/disarm and is sensitive enough (but not too sensitive) to put out a shrieking alarm if someone attempts to enter again.

Thinking something small and battery powered, portable, that I can mount or place near the cargo area where someone would cause enough vibrations/motions when attempting to disrupt the soft top.

Glad you got away without damage, most dirtbags would have cut the window instead of prying it open.

Let this be a lesson - never lock your soft top Jeep.

second, dont lock soft tops, ever

i was stupid, left my hardtop on the street unlocked one night, someone broke in, rifled through the front area, stole 10 year old ray bans, and a knife. Left $1,500 worth of 4x4 stuff in back.

jeeps are an opportunity theft.

Thanks for the tips so far, didn't see the one in the Jeep manual about never locking soft tops! Now I know. ?

The opportunistic thefts here are out of control. They're checking handles for unlocked cars and looking to see what they can grab - firearms, computers, other valuables. It's typically the college kids that get their stuff stolen. Often happens in broad daylight. My thought is as soon as they trip a motion/vibration alarm, they will abandon any additional effort with my vehicle and move on as fast as they can - plenty of other cars to check.

@tomk62

I've used this motion-sensing alarm to successfully dissuade folks from sitting on my sidecar motorcycle for photo ops. The adjustable sensitivity levels make it easy to configure to your use case.

The affordable price makes it an easy experiment.
Thanks - that's specifically one I was looking at, and thank you for the SoA reference!

A co-worker had also suggested something like this (he has other Aqara products):

A couple of well placed motion spotlights from the house will / notify you of motion and should warn anyone approaching.

Thanks - those are already in place. I was asleep on the other end of the house so there was no notification to me, and our specific breed of criminals "undocumented borrowers" here don't care about that. They sometimes do this in broad daylight. There's also an extremely bright street lamp across the street from my next door neighbor's house.

This is what happens when there are no consequences for your crime, but don't get me started. :)
