Today I installed the Mopar brake controller no my 2021 JLUR 6 speed manual.
I am posting in an effort to save others from the frustration that you will encounter due to the 3rd pedal.
I’m sure that those looking to install the factory option will have watched every YouTube video in preparation as I did. There are several great videos that show the process in great detail. However, there are no videos of installing said factory option on a manual transmission equipped vehicle.
I removed my drivers seat to allow more access for my fat self to access the impossibly confined footwell of the Jeep (you should do this even if you have an automatic because, you’re fat).
I tried for way too long lying on my back pushing the clutch pedal in With one hand while attempting to maneuver the controller into position with the other. This was exhausting and frustrating but, I’m thinking all the while, it has to fit. There’s no way Jeep would not tell DIY folks the consumer that the part won’t fit manual transmission vehicles.
If it could be done, I would have got it done.
In the end I resigned to unbolting the controller from the mounting bracket and double sided taping it to a convenient spot behind the knee bolster.
If you have a manual transmission equipped Jeep and want the Mopar controller, don’t even try to follow the instructions. Just do what I did.
