I'll be up at Michigan International Speedway on June 10th and would like to head up to central/northern Michigan for some camping and beginner trail riding. Something my stock Rubicon w/35's can handle. I'm hoping to find some wider trails to avoid scratching it up her first time out. I doubt I will have time to make it all the way up to the UP or Drummond Island. Any help is appreciated!

While you are at MIS check out Bundy Off Road Park (https://www.bundyhilloffroad.com/) that is right nearby. Tons of fun with the Jeep and a wide range color coded trails. I did get a few scratches on the Black trails but was avoidable. Had the top off and needless to say I got a lot of mud inside.

A little bit of a revival for this thread. I've had my JLUR for 1300 miles, time to take it on a trail! The first trail was the North Country National Scenic trail in Newaygo County. We started at M20 and went North to 5 mile rd. Nice wide trail with opportunities for lots of mud if you want it or bypasses if you don't. The second was the Tin Cup Trail in Lake County. This was is all sand with a couple of hills. Trail is wide and bumpy. Check the video for bumpy example, kids loved it.

Tin Cup trail

I would rate both trails as easy. I did everything in 4H without airing down or locking diffs.

Gassing up on way to camp. Wife's WK2 in back.

We have a place near Bellaire Mi and have been exploring the fire road in the Jordan River Valley this summer. Most of the time the 2020 Rubicon JL with stock running gear and tires can do it in 2 wheel drive but have found a few wash outs that required 4 wheel low.
Other than Sliver lake any others good areas near Gaylord or Grayling to check out?

Going to Indian River this weekend to search for ELK!

There are many trails near St Helen, including a big sand pit to play around in. Other than the cost of ORV stickers, its free, and rather easy with a stock Jeep.

There are a lot of forest roads east or south (more east) of Manistee in the Manistee National Forest. Camping is available any number of places in that general area. Beaches and kayaking also in the area.

If you're playing around near Camp Grayling, there is LOTS of deep sand, so prepare to air down. Also, if it's during the week, you might come around a corner to a tank coming at you!

You can drive on the North Country National Scenic trail? Every thing I've seen is a hiking trail. The pictures look cool
