I have a 2018 wrangler 6-speed manual. Is it possible to convert manual transmission to automatic? Does anyone have experience with the conversion?
Yes.

Sell it buy one with auto.

It's less rowing your own and more making the Jeep listen to you without having to jump through the hoops the auto has. The 8 speed is a fantastic transmission, but Jeep's software setup is kind of a pain in some specific conditions.

In order for the Jeep to not cut power, at least with the 2.0, you have to be in manual gear select mode, regardless of whether you're in offroad + or not and regardless of what gear you're in. If you leave it in drive and require wheel speed, there is a point it'll cut power for driveline preservation, and it's so incredibly conservative on what that point is. Such a pain point on harder stuff, feels like the point they pick is always right when you're just starting to gain traction.
But thats the point, even using manual mode, if its reducing throttle, its keeping you from destroying driveline. I'm in manual mode offroad rocks and most times on hiway yo keep engine from continually seeking the right gear. Hey let's stay 6 or 7 ya stupid jeep.

It doesn't seem to do it in manual mode, only in drive. And, getting up the obstacle in manual mode (an obstacle I run often, so not a one off), no issues. Not even close to issues. As I said, it's very conservative, to the point where it's interfering with normal wheeling. Like, I was pulling a buddy up a hill after he tried to drop his JKU off the side of the hill and trying to maintain steady RPMs at like 3500 in drive (second gear, 4L) and it'd cut power and bog me down, dropping to like 1k RPM or less. Situations like that aren't exactly like wailing on the Jeep trying to break something, it wasn't saving anything.
