Hello I have a 2018 JL sport with the m200 from what I have read it is the equivalent of the dana 35. The bearings are roaring at 80k miles so time to change out, what I wanted to know is this a C clip rear end like the TJ 35? Also I read somewhere that the pinion bearing setup is different than race bearings. Does anybody have a breakdown or knowledge of this before I blindly order parts? Thank you!

It’s not a Dana 35. It’s stronger everywhere. The axle tubes are the same as the regular 44 as well. The gears are Advantek 35 specific and I’d recommend staying that way. The Dana gears I used upgrading to 4.56’s are more quiet than stock somehow. I upgraded to 44 axles when I got the upgraded 32 spline Ox locker diff.

This is a time where picking up a low mile D44 narrow from a six speed makes great sense. You could get one for less than the parts needed to rebuild your M200.

The narrow and wide are M220’s. They denote the difference with “wide” IE “Dana M220 Wide Rear Axle” per the build sheet.

Crazy question if you are still on here. Did you use the m220 narrow 32 spline axles in the M200? I’ve heard of people doing this but I’m curious on how it’s holding up…

Sold in Nov ‘23. Held up perfectly. Yes, the narrow (non “wide”), equal length, stock 32 spline count Yukon forged M220 axle shafts.

Why would one use a narrow instead of a wide? I think both axles on mine are wide. Isn't wide preferable generally speaking?

Yes wider is better but a narrow D44 is cheaper/stronger/better than a rebuild on a M200.

Thanks!!! I am thinking of rebuilding mine… I bought a 220 narrow and it has been one problem after another. Figured it would at least be fun playing with the old 35/200
