So I’ve removed the muffler at the clamp on my ‘25 and I want to keep it in that location. I’m looking for a turn down tip because it’s aimed directly at the heat shield for the rear storage. Not a huge deal. But it does heat up thing I put in there while driving. I have nothing of real importance in there so it’s not a big deal. But I’d like it to turn down. I’m having trouble finding the correct diameter pipe. 3” is too big and 2.5” is the same size and the exhaust and I can’t find 2.75”. I almost found one at oreillys but it’s too long to fit there because of that silly thing that comes off the exhaust and the muffler notch guides onto and clamps down to seal it. I’d rather not spend the money at an exhaust shop because it’ll cost me at least $100 when the tips at oreillys are $10.99.

I deleted the muffler on my 2025 JL and replaced it with an MBRP muffler delete pipe. Saved at least 30 lbs. Turns down. No drone. It works great. Around $125 out the door.

So, you are running without a muffler?
That is correct. I took their jeep on a few trails when I first got it and kept smacking the muffler on obstacles as I was coming down. So I removed it and haven’t had an issue since. It’s not droney. It has a nice little V6 rumble. Like I said I’m not bothered by it one bit. But if I put something in my storage compartment I dont want it to get hot if I need to grab it out of there and if I’ve been driving for a while everything gets a wee bit warm.

So I like the idea of this delete pipe. But it’s too long. So I want something that connects where this MBRP pipe connects to our exhaust and dumps down from there and that’s it. I don’t need it to be any longer than that. Last time I went out I was on the Natches trail and there is an obstacle “blind drop” with a steep drop and if I didn’t have my muffler off the way I came down it I’d have either ripped the muffler off or pinched the tailpipe closed. Because I hit and drug the back of that rear tow hook where the muffler would have been sitting.

I gotcha. Best bet probably would be to go to your local muffler shop and have them weld on a downturn. I know it costs more than $10.99 but just get it done. We are allowed to spend unlimited money on our hobbies that bring smiles to our faces and make us happy. You will never regret it.

Just an FWIW, the MBRP muffler delete is tucked way up over the axle. The downturn doesn't even hang below the stock JL bumper.

What length do you need? Do you have the ability to cut a slot in the turn down tip to deal with the button shaped guide on the OEM pipe? I see 2.75 inch turn down exhaust tips on Amazon for about $35.

That guide on the OEM pipe gave me fits. I could only move the muffler pipe like 3/8 an inch with a shop hammer taking it off. I had to finally use a come-along and yank it off. And that was when it was brand new!

Same. I may have pounded some dents in the backside of the OEM muffler with a rubber mallet in anger to remove it. Nobody wanted a free factory muffler so it went to salvage anyway.

No way some drone doesn’t exist. Not buying it.
It might drone. But I have a 2DR soft top so it’s loud anyway. Still easy to have conversations with rear passengers when top and windows are on. @Terrymo I have a grinder. I’ll either use that to notch it or a grinding disc to grind of that stupid thing. Unless it’s stronger than that. Using a come along is great lengths to remove the factory muffler. Granted when I took mine off I had like 300 miles maybe. I’ve been driving like this for ~8700 now.

Thank you @Terrymo I just looked and found the exact one I want first try. First option. The one at oreilly had some lame set screws to secure it to the exhaust piping.

I measured the exhaust pipe and it’s 2.5” the muffler inlet is 2 5/8” I think 2.75” will be too big.(never heard that before)

You may be right, but it is not overwhelming like some aftermarket exhausts I've had. I don't even notice it. The sound provides better audio recognition of where I am in the RPM range for shifting. And I can still have a quiet conversation with my passengers.
