I threw the new 35" spare on the bone stock Sport tire carrier, and it's going to work fine.

I would like to extend the rubber bumper thingies so they continue to make contact with the tire. I killed about 30 minutes digging around on parts sites and old threads, and I've turned up nothing for the JL so far.

Depends on how much space you need. I have the energy JK ones ready to go on, my buddy just used the longer daystar JK, he cut off the nub and used a bolt and nut to attach to the tailgate. He just popped off the tailgate liner to get the nut on, but you could use a well nut as well.

I used these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IDM1OCE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Trimmed them to the length needed. Also, had to cut off a bit of the nubs that fit into the tailgate a bit to get them to fit.

Thanks for showing me something that can be made to fit. I can work with that!

I wouldn't even go as far as that... I just went to home depot and got the small diameter PVC pipe connector that would fit in the hole of the bumper and then got some wider rubber pipe fittings secured them around the other end. haha not the cleanest, but no one ever looks behind your spare so. Around $5 of total parts or so.

I love it. I am just massively out of money right now, and that looks like a fine piece of redneck engineering.
