An FCA Jeep Engineer told me to grab the bar with each hand on opposite ends and then give the bar a quick sharp pull. It takes a bit of force but it does pull the those bottom tabs out. He said that they have a machine that tests this process 10,000 times and neither the tabs or the bar should fail. I've been using this method since and it's a lot easier to get that back window open.

Sort of. Just pulling the bar out sharply pulls the tabs out or at least enough to more easily get them out. Just depends on how hard you pull. You might feel like you will break something but that engineer said you won't.
