For the pods, we chose Rigid Radiance. I have the ambers and @BbyGrlJJ had RED backlight. We love them. We have all of our "backlights" wired to 1 switch and pod main LED wired separately. Here are the pods - https://www.amazon.com/RADIANCE-BAC...ords=radiance+pod+amber&qid=1617459944&sr=8-2

Wiring was already covered, but a red/black for the main light, then a separate red for the backlight. These were easily mounted with the existing tabs on the bumper.

Took our oldest (and his TJ) to SMORR last weekend (only a couple hours form us!). I re-tested the ramp and was please with my flex! I'm fully stuffed, but perfectly and all hardware seemed to line-up correctly. I am using 2 bumpstops from MC and i think it's perfect. I "think" you need chopped venders for the 2" stop. Others might give a better opinion if they still have full OEM fenders, but i think you'd need to run 3 if you didnt chop. It was a fantastic day and not crowded at all! Enjoy some Jeep PRON.

Been a few minutes, but did some cleaning after 2 years of fun and wheeling. Here's a process i've used in the past and have liked it. We did opt to remove our engine covers for the process. (BTW - If you dont have Redline Tuning hood struts - GET SOME)
BEFORE Pics - Not that dirty:

First, i covered the air intake hole and ECM with plastic bags - not sure if either are needed:
Jeep Wrangler JL JL's JLs Builds IMG_7058.JPG
Jeep Wrangler JL JL's JLs Builds IMG_7059.JPG

I dont have any pics of spraying, but i used a gallon hand-pump sprayer and mixed "loosely" 1:3 Simple Green to water. This was enough to clean 2 vehicles at two "coats".

I sprayed everything in the bay, let it sit for 10 mins and rinsed with a hose - not on direct blast. I did this twice. I didnt use a brush, but there was some caked on mud. Sometimes that will require a brush, so clean as needed. Let it air dry and applied some Meguire's Natural Shine - which added the "shine", go figure. That was applied liberally and used a paper towel to wipe excess and make even. Didnt take long - only a couple mins. That stuff will evap at some point. Here's the after pics:

Had these sitting around for awhile and finally got around to it: Reid Steering Knuckles and Dynatrac Balljoints. The BJs have def made a difference in steering experience. They take out a bunch of bumpsteer and give a more overall solid feel. We changed these BJs out at 26000 on 1 JL and 16000 on the other. The 26K ones were "getting there", but still had some life left to them. We've wheeled, so i'd say they've held up pretty good so far. Oddly, we noticed the loosest ones were the passenger lower.

A tip for anyone that is changing these out AND have replaced your draglinks/tierods: remove the tapered sleeves WHILE the factory knuckles are still on. It will be easier. You can do it removed, but it will piss you off more :)

Process to do this took about 4hrs on the 1st Jeep and 3.5 on the 2nd.

Comparison of factory BJs vs new(s): if you get these, purchase the $12 install kit - WORTH IT

OKAY folks!! Exactly 4 weeks from placing my order, my MOJITO came in!

First, i had to say goodbye to my 2006 5.7 WK. It was the best vehicle i have owned. Had it for 10 years, after 1 lease. Got it at 30K and left it at 175K. I will miss you old friend! 1 last hug :) :(

It's OK though, my new love!.....and so is born the "Radioactive" build :rock:

1st night home, the garage is looking great! Our house is now worth 100K more
Jeep Wrangler JL JL's JLs Builds IMG_7096.JPG

Similar to the wife's Archangel, i did all the same mods on mine. We did get a few different things: i got a manual and different seat covers. I do love these seat covers (code CBS), but they came at an unknown cost.
If anyone is interested in getting these seat covers, please note the following removal of features:
  • You will lose the leather dash and have plastic
  • You will lose the leather inside doors and have plastic
  • You will lose the rear center console/drink holder
Thanks FCA for not making that clear on the site - fawkers! Oh well...you give, you take.., but the seats look GREAT!

I will say - that after driving (breaking it in) for the last day or so, the manual is AWESOME! My old manual was a TJ.....def NOT the same, of course, but fun to get used to the new. That's the good feedback.....the BAD feedback: the Auto StopStart (ASS)....properly termed :CWL: I feel a Tazer around the corner.
Rubis look great side by side!

Happy New Year all!
It's been a while for this thread, but santa brought a couple small goodies.

  • Oracle Oculus Heated Lights
  • 67 Rail (Replaced VoSwitch mounts)
  • Tailgate latch
  • Sun Visor Fix

We have the OEM LED and like them, but liked the idea of the heated lens. No snow yet to test!

OEM LED:

The light output is nice, with a well defined cutoff line.

67 Rail - https://www.67d.com/products/jeep-jl-rail-mount-gladiator-series-55-rail-mount-base-1
67 Rail Mag Holder - https://www.67d.com/products/magmount-g3-device-holder
67 Rail Mini Arms - https://www.67d.com/products/carbon-fiber-arms-matte

We replaced our VoSwitch mounts with the 67 rail stuff. We def like the 67 stuff - great quality. I did want to keep the VoSwitch panel, so since it came with a plastic ball, i replaced the ball on the back of the panel. - https://www.67d.com/products/carbon-fiber-arms-matte

Factory VoSwitch back:
Jeep Wrangler JL JL's JLs Builds IMG_7288.JPG

The new hardware holes lined up, but i decided to trim the corners, so they wouldnt stick out (not shown). I simply cut them with a dremel and touched up with matte black (I did add 1 washer on each to snug it up):

Sun Visor fix - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LDF4DT9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This went in quick and easy and was simply for preventative measures:

Taligate latch:
This seems to have removed some rattle in the back. When we close the tailgate, it feels more solid now:

Thanks! Unfortunately, no. The rotor and dust shield block it. Looks great from the front though :)

The knuckles look great. Did you paint them yourself or have it done professionally? It’s only been 6 months since your post, but how have they held up so far?

Hey man! Sorry for the delay…they’ve held up great so far. Had a local place powdercoat them. I did ask for them to not do the machines portions. I might think that differently next time, but all good. Just a little accent of rust. :)

It's been a minute or two and realized that i've done a bunch of stuff! Here's the recent batch. Really like how i'm sitting right now, but need a shakedown with my new shocks:

Since we got the mopar cargo mats (really just wanted the seat-back parts), if there's weight in the cargo area, it adds to the mats coming out of the holes. It's annoying to me, so i wanted to try a cargo shelf. I liked the design of the Rustys, so went with that. It's been great so far. Very solid. No movement or rattle. I used blue thread lock. Also am trying a "low profile" toolbox, in form of a dewalt toughbox 2.0 with foam trays. That's been nice so far as well. It's easy in/out and doesnt move. Just using a ratchet strap, with some foam underneath, to prevent rattle.

Along the way, our steering felt loose - no way! BUT, in our case, our MC axle-side steering mounts became loose. 2 bolts = more potential for loose. We switched to Synergy and it's "very nice". Sorry MC, you guys lost that one.

Had the sudden urge to advance the axles a bit: rear Yukon chromolys - https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/axle-shafts/yawak-001-yukon-rear-axle-shafts-220mm-rear

Followed Mos video - he's usually a good time to watch -

I've done shafts before, but it was pretty straight forward. Used the rotor(and rubber mallot) to help remove the factory shafts. The races came out pretty easily as well. Used a couple spare grade 8 washers to help seat the lug bolts:

Put them to the "test" when i went to Hot Springs Off Road Park. 3 badge trails. We've been before, but it's been a while. I didnt have any issues with the OEM axles and i didn't expect any issues with these - there weren't. No challenges. A few pics from there. LOVE Rubicon Ridge. Just fun. These first ones are about 95% flex.

After Hot Springs, i got another couple wild hairs: front grill and shocks. I felt that the rocksports were wearing on me. DOnt get me wrong: they are great for the price, but i knew i would graduate at some point. Went with MC 6paks and LOVE EM so far. Removed my fender liners for the front shock install. You do REMOVE the MC outboard shock mounts, if you have those. Decided to add another bump to the front, i'll report back.

At the same time, i ordered some new front stop sprint isolators, to help correct spring bow. Seemed to help - https://www.mymoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-spring-isolator-front-68253406ac

..and changed the OEM bumpstops to MC duraflex - https://metalcloak.com/durospring-replacement-jounce-bumper-jeep-jk-jl.html

My swaybar hit the shock and full droop. MC advised to adjust rear endlinks to 12.25 - perfect advice! That measurement did it - thanks guys! Always good support from MC.

Got some side vent LED turn signal replacements for a gift. Used a trim tool to remove the vent. Didnt have install instructions, but I added about 8 inches of wire to the LED, then tapped into the turn signal/DRL wire bundle: red/positive to white/green on drivers side and white/yellow on passengers. Black to black:

Lastly - grill stuff: JT inserts, Oracle pre-runner and Zautomotive cam:

Cam - https://www.zautomotive.com/product/z-jt-cam/

Grill inserts are easy to replace, The pre-runner lights, i tied into my existing AAL DRLs. I have the "lights out" hardware (which debatably works), but does include a pigtail, to tie into. I decided to use that. @dragoneggs If i had to tap into the existing OEM DRLs, it would be easy. You could tap, where i show above (for the led install) or at the wire harness, closer to the DRL. You'll have to pull the OEM fender a bit. I do show how to do that WAAAAAAAYYYYy back up there somwhere.

The camera install was pretty easy, just followed the video and e-structions they had. I bundled some of the wire, near the top of my grill.
