If you are truly ok with sub 20 mpg , extremely loud fan, and wind noise on your daily driver get it. I don’t mind either of those on my weekend car. As a matter of fact, my Jeep spends 90 percent of its time without doors and the top and I enjoy the heck out of it because I drive it when I want to not because I have to. I love it so much that I barely drive my other cars.

If you do decide to get one I would spend the money to get led lights, upgraded Uconnect and instrument cluster that is not available on sport model.

I love how people get offended when you speak your opinion here.
I have a Jaguar f type r, c7 z06, wrangler, and fiat 500e. I would get rid of all of them before I get rid of the fiat. Or my wife’s accord for that matter. Wrangler and sport cars are vehicles meant to have fun with when the time is right. But mon to fri when you just want to get to work, in peace and quiet, no wind noise, no rattling, driving 80 mph on the freeway while getting 35+ mpg no exhaust sound, you wanna have a practical car
Welcome to 2018, everyone gets offended by everything.

What year wrangler do you have?

I have the 2018 jl sport
"Rattling, wind noise"...?

Are all the nuts and bolts tight on it?

I have a rubicon and the new JL models pretty much drive and act like a "regular" suv(there no range rover but not even close as you describe)...unless of course your jeep has every mod on the market it may drive a little bit messy.

Full disclosure: I not one of those "offended by everything people, just wondering why your JL sounds like a mess as you describe.

I don’t think people were “offended”. You just made it sound like there was no way to drive it on a daily basis. I believe the majority would disagree. But yes, if your commute enjoyment is based on high practicality and gas mileage- then I can see a Jeep being problematic. But for me (who has also driven too many cars and trucks to count), I find the ride enjoyable. Maybe it’s a Texas thing, but I’m not into compact rollerskates to and from work, any more than I do on the weekends.

My Jeep is not a mess. All I’m saying is that if your commute is more than 40 miles a day it makes sense to have a “ comfortable car” to run errands when you just want to go from point A to B and drive the Jeep when you are in the mood to have fun. My wife’s new accord gets 40mpg on the freeway going 75. It’s a freeway car it’s so smooth that it puts you to sleep. Road noises are barely noticeable with the radio turned off. The driver assist options such as lane assist, active cruise control, collision detection etc are standard and make it ideal for for what it is as the jeep is ideal for what it is. It’s the difference between 10 dollars in gas per day vs 20. There is a reason why wranglers don’t get such high remarks from consumer reports etc. people that are used to a certain way of driving, purchase wranglers for the cool factor. They are not wrong, but the cool factor dies off quickly as it gets in the way of their expected comfort leading to buyers remorse. It’s just the nature of the solid axle. What makes it excel in off-roading, hurts it on the road. That’s just physics. Having said that I daily drive the wrangler before my z06 or the f type. At least you don’t have to worry about every bump on the road

Went to pismo beach to go off-roading with my Jeep and my in-laws Cherokee trail hawk. Had loads of fun going up and down the dunes. At the end of the day I took his trailhawk to get some woods on the same off-road like sandy roads that took the Jeep on 30 min before and I couldn’t believe how much more compliant his suspension was compared to mine. The difference? Solid axles vs IS. On the way back from the beach, he was driving comfortably at 85. Getting somewhat respectable gas mileage in a quiet cabin, while I had to keep it below 75 to keep noises, and my back under control.

Having said that I would never ever trade my wrangler with a cherokee or a raptor ( which I got rid of couple months back) why? Because wrangler is orgasmicly fun when you are in the mood to have fun unmatched by nothing else on the road. The smile on my face off-roading with the doors off and the windshield folded is the best way to go off-roading period.

i dont think i could DD my Sport. i think my oem Rubi wheels/tires have to do with it. it changed the ride and the way it drives. slightly, but noticeable. even bone stock, still wouldnt be my go to in the driveway. a 50 mile drive in my Sport and i almost feel "beat up" lol. hard to explain but its kind of tiring. meanwhile i could drive 300 in the lexus and feel fine. also, i have a soft top. kind of a pain trying to carry on a phone conversation even with the windows rolled up. i drove it for work once (once) and it was sort of a nightmare because i pretty much couldnt take any calls. just too loud (for business calls anyways). im sure other people are ok with it but ill pass. heck i used to drive stiff, slammed cars all the time. now i prefer them to sit higher and ride softer lol. when i drive my gt500, occasionally, i love it. if i had to DD it, i dont think i would. not as comfortable and takes effort. i think the lexus has ruined other cars for me lol.

funny thing is, the lexus is my wife's DD and she loves driving the wrangler to work (40+ miles each way). maybe she's tired of soft and comfy.

we bought the jeep as a weekend toy. my teenage daughter drives it more than anyone.

Amusing thread. I bought my first Wrangler this Spring, a JLUR, coming out of an X3. Totally different vehicles, my wife also has an X3 and when I get into it now, I feel like I’m in a luxury car. Don’t misunderstand, I really like the Wrangler but I fully appreciate those don’t see it as a DD, particularly if the commute is long or at high speed.

I’m fortunate, I have a 20 minute commute on back roads with minimal traffic, so creature comforts aren’t all that important. I also have a sports car for the summer months as well as other 2 wheel toys. This simply means I enjoy the raw nature of the Wrangler. I will add that my kids (all in their 20’s) love the thing, they in fact were the ones that encouraged me to buy it.

Finely, I keep vehicles a long time and I will be retiring in a couple of years, so I’m planning on the Wrangler being more of a pleasure vehicle than a commuting tool. I think it’s ideal for my future needs. Think 2nd childhood.

So , you prefer a soft swaying hammock to a straight-axle Jeep ?
